It doesn't support vulkan on windows but I know in Linux you can you can get it to work with vulkan under proton but again that's if you're on a Linux pc. iirc dx12 is default but you can switch to dx11 in the main menu.

I wouldn't worry about dx12 I've been using it for almost 430hrs (on a windows pc btw)and with that amount of time put into this game I haven't seen any performance issues at all.

MHW launched with DirectX 11. DIrectX 12 was added in a patch after Iceborne.

For current Windows and hardware, Dx12 should work better.

On Linux/Proton, Vulkan-based layers are used for DirectX: dxvk for Dx11, and vkd3d for Dx12. You could try dxvk on Windows[github.com] but it may not work or have any benefit.

aaah thats make sense, well my hardware is kinda old cpu: a8-6600k (2014) and my gpu: Rx 570 (2017) i barely can get 40-60 fps at mid settings 1080 but i still think that this game is well optimized i just wanted to try other options

I use a i5-8400 and 1050 Ti on Linux, so my CPU is better but GPU is worse than yours.

With fullscreen FSR via Proton (not the game's FSR/FidelityFX), I play at 1477x831 upscaled to 1920x1080, locked 40 FPS, mid-high settings (almost everything high, shadows mid, shdiffuse/snow low, and volume rendering OFF is the most important). Personally I prefer to lock the FPS to 40 or 45 rather than have drops from 60 FPS, feels smoother and also runs a little cooler.

So if you can get 40-60 FPS at 1080p I'd say it's pretty good, doubt you'll squeeze much more by trying to use Vulkan. Unfortunately AMD restricted RSR to newer GPUs otherwise that would be a big boost.

Btw if you play under 60 FPS get the Tic Rate fix mod[www.nexusmods.com] (and the 2 requirements).

thank you man, im going to try that config later when i get on my pc and see what happens, does the mod that you linked works on windows? ill save it for later, i just hope that the mod doesnt corrupt my save data or something because i just bought the game yesterday and saw a lot of reviews saying that the game has some problems with saves

Yeah the mods are all intended for Windows. This mod doesn't affect save data, you can install/uninstall it freely, but it's probably a good idea to back up your saves anyway considering how much time people put into this game.
