Lance is Easy mode?
In Iceborne, I've switched from GS to Lance and I've really been enjoying it.

However, I've been reading that Lance is considered "easy mode", and I wondered if other people may think it will remove the challenge of iceborne. I'm at Fulgur Anjanath now.

While I personally prefer to use the lance for tougher hunts (I normally stick to the gunlance), there's nothing wrong with using it as a main. Not using a "heavily skill based" weapon like the charge blade or long sword doesn't make you any less skilled or dedicated.
Lance is BAE
From my time watching a friend use both the lances there are few monsters which are really good against them

Rajang just keeps attacking so unless you have health augment it's really hard to find time to put away your weapon and heal

Velkhana keeps kiting the player around so unless you find a way to close the distance it can be really hard to lands hits on it

I hear Alatreon is a hard counter to lance but especially gunlance due to low elemental damage. Plus Alatreon likes to run away and shoot from afar which is a pain for such slow weapons

I can say that Rajang is bit of a hassle with the Lance, yes. But Health Augment will indeed keep you going with little problems.

Tempered Rajang is actually a whole different matter. I can manage, but it's really challanging. As an aside, Lance seems to be pretty well suited for flinch shotting any Rajang into walls, because of counter clutching one of the regularily incoming fists.

(Funnily enough, Furious Rajang seems a bit easier for me.)

As for Velkhana, I never had any issue with the Lance. Closing the distance is really easy. If V is really far away, just charge for a bit or even put the weapon away and jog. On middle distance, V likes to use her own inferior (mwahaha) version of a Lance and tries to poke you with her tail...

... which you can easily clutch counter onto, doing free hits, tenderizing and closing the remaining distance all rolled into one tasty package. Also Lance can block almost all of the moves except for the ground freeze and regarding that... well it's the same as with Frostfang: if you get stuck, you will get stung.

Lance changes the game from hit and run to stand and deliver.

Be as the glue and stick with the stick.
I personally found the Rajangs to be considerably easier with the gunlance, due to its anti-armor shelling attacks. While moving slower is still an issue, you don't have to worry about targeting specific parts when it's enraged, just shoot off volleys of gun attacks. If you don't have a gunlance build on hand, get a set of zorah or raging brachy armor and equip artillery gems, and I suggest using a long shelling type lance (although that's just personal preference). Once you have that you can just keep firing off charged shell attacks between blocks. If you think gunlance is too combo-heavy, hate its inability to make use of all your affinity build gear, or just have horrible memories of the useless version from generations, that's fine too, whatever will get Rajang dead works. But in any case, lance and gunlance are my favorites, and are both fun and powerful in their own right.

Ranged is easy mode. HBG. LBG have insane output dmg while not having to worry ab anti-melee moves from monsters it's not even funny.

Lance will have some hard counters in late game (unless you don't use your shield at which point, heh, why play lance?)
All weapon that clicked with you is EZ mode. Play with what you enjoy.
Takes too damn long to kill anything plus you get boned from ground attacks something fierce. I hope you're a big fan of standing in patches of freezing cold or flame.
Of all the weapons I tried Lance was the one that made me cart the most.

That double diablos arena quest people say it's perfect for lance? I couldn't stay in the fight for 2 minutes

Well that's probably a sign that u haven't quite mastered the weapon yet. I'm not sure how long you've been using the lance but it definitely takes time & practice before u can get used to the "rhythm" of playing lance.

I remembered doing that quest before IB & it was a breeze. I imagine it's even easier with CC counter.

I agree with this, light bow gun is considered real easy mode. Not only are you mostly safe at range you are always hitting the desired weak point.
It's easier if you set it up right, but that is true for most weapons.

Though it's fun to stand your ground and just stab relentlessly relying on counters most of the time for most blocks. Than treat it like an iron wall and just hold block.
I started playing with the bow. I found it was a weapon where you had to time everything like nergi rolls perfectly or die. I got tired of that and changed to lance. Blocking with guard up is massively more forgiving than i frame rolling.

I hated playing the bow because you had to move like crazy to keep your charge level. The difficulty was staying alive.

The difficulty with lance is dealing enough damage. Once you understand the monster's attack pattern you can pretty much attack never stop attacking during 90% of the fight when other people have to evade.

Lance works best when you make close to zero mistakes. You follow the monster around and poke when it's safe. You counter attack to get a damage boost to immediately attack right after the last attack frame of many monster attacks.

The pokes are very fast which means overall 95% of your attacks are safe. I think the problem you are having with lance is between your keyboard and chair. On that note... when i first tried lance I thought : yuck. Later I wanted to change from bow and I found a tutorial on how to play lance that really opened my eyes.

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=arekkz+lance+guide#kpvalbx=_fLM8X-jJDcOO5wLR0qCgAQ28

Long story short... lance play is as follows:

poke poke poke counter guard+cancel (repeat)

or

poke poke poke hop back (repeat)

When the monster is too far away.... CHARGE!

For most of MHW playing HBG or LBG have been easy mode. The only thing that makes it "hard" is that you use up ammunition.

I stopped playing bow when I was fighting Tempered Teostra. Since Switching to lance the only monster that feels like a hard counter to lance is : AT Lunastra.

If you are bad against AT KT you might also feel that fight is a counter to lance. With the right setup you can guard through the fire and live.

When the new elemental badboy came out recently I had to carry my friend who is a gunlance main through.
Playing lance for survivability is easy. It's easy to do slow and steady pokes and win the race with certainty. Maintaining furious aggression with it isn't. You require absolutely high skill to place lance aggressively.
