Where are you looking?

Your current sharpness level and the remaining durability of that level of sharpness should be visible in a horizontal sword shaped gauge just under you health and stamina during a hunt.

Top left cornor underneath your healthbar a sword like icon in the correct collor of your sharpness appears

Underneath your health and stamina bar is a little sword icon, that has the colour of your weapon's sharpness. It goes down like a bar, showing you roughly how many more hits you can do until the sharpness decreases a level. As your weapon sharpness level goes down, so does your damage, so you should be sharpening your weapon when it hits red or yellow if it has green max, or when it hits green if it has a higher max sharpness level.

In general, you just want to keep your weapon sharp for the most damage. If you're not sure, you could just sharpen it whenever the monster you're fighting leaves the area

With the images you posted, it looks like the fossil bludgeon is the better weapon here as they both have the same max sharpness level but the fossil bludgeon has higher raw damage

Here's another small guide, it is for an older game tho but the info still stands (except for the last few bits about the skill and hitstopping i think): https://gaijinhunter.tumblr.com/post/110108079422/mh4u-understanding-sharpness

I think someone mentioned this before, but having low sharpness also makes your weapon bounce more (dealing hardly any damage and decreasing sharpness even further, this happens less with early monsters though) but also, some weapon attacks don't bounce at all (Mind's Eye skill stops weapons bouncing completely). You don't want your weapons to bounce, not just because of the damage, but also you get locked in the bounce animation and that can be pretty dangerous, especially against tougher monsters

All that matters is what color is the highest sharpness the particular weapon has and how long that color is.

Optimally you should never go below the top sharpness, or below the second best one if you don't want to be bothered managing it all the time.

I know but i ask about sharpness bar, there two got same green, you said green is better but they're same green they same damage even some have less sharpness point in that bar?

For slower weapon like Hammer or Greatsword, go for higher base damage, because you don't hit a lot like DB so the sharpness lost is not really a big issue.

Your weapon doesn't lose sharpness forever. If you look at you equip info it will always display the maximum amount of sharpness. Like people said, you need to look at the Sword Icon below your HP/Stamina bar, the color will change there and you can recover it to the maximum using wetstone.

The bar = max sharpness length that weapon can reach. There's a skill called handicraft to prolong the sharpness. You can't prolong to the end of that bar where you are now in the game, but if you COULD do it, the Kulu Beak II would have much more green sharpness.

like others have said, focus on the colours right now.
