Desperate help needed for 100% cpu usage
I'm at the end of my rope.
Everytime I launch the game it takes up 89%-97% of my CPU and I dont know how to stop it. Ive tried everything. I dont use windows defender, I use sophos instead, so as far as I can tell the patch that worked for some people didn't do jack for me.

Ive tried to use mods to get around the DRM, ive told sophos to not actively scan the game while it was running (worked for a little bit! Cpu usage dropped to low 20's but so did the fps, then the game would reset my pc everytime I launched it. Eventually that stopped on its own and now im back at square one with the cpu issue), ive tried the task bar trick, ive done everything I can possibly do that people have been telling me to do and this game is still chowing down on my cpu like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ middle aged wine addict at a Sunday afternoon brunch.
Please, can any of you offer any help what so ever? I dont want to constantly be checking to see if my cpu is going to fry because I want to go kill big lizards with an axe sword.

I have a GeForce GTX 1650, AMD Ryzen 7 3750H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx, and 15.81GB of free RAM

Im not well versed in CPUs and stuff. But is that just the game's graphics on the integrated graphics taking it way high?

also disable steam overlay

CPU is the computers processing power, so basically mhw is forcing my computer to use all of its power to run it and it alone, which it shouldn't be doing

integrated graphics doesnt show up on the cpu as well?
If you rightclick the game in the 'services' tab in task manager, you can 'set affinity' and tell it to use a specific number of cpu cores (like, change it from all of them to just 5 or something) I don't know how much it will help (I did it to help my laptop run cooler way back but I stopped needing to do it after some updates) and you need to do it every time you launch the game, but. yeah

You also might want to check out this mod if you haven't already, I haven't looked at it in a long while though:
https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/3473
Stracker's link: https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterworld/mods/1982

Also, not sure if it applies to you or not, but back when I was trying to make my laptop run cooler, I would change advanced power settings (in the battery options) and set the 'maximum processor state' way down. (From 100% -> 70% unplugged and 55% plugged in). I don't know the details of what this actually does but it worked a little bit. There's definitely a way to do something similar on actual PCs' but I don't know how :d

Sorry for not being able to help more

Bro any little bit helps.
I've also jusy found out that if I change it to 30 fps I drop like 40% in my cpu usage, so idk what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on

What is your GPU usage?
Sounds almost like the game is trying to run entirely off of integrated graphics, or whatever AMD's equivalent of that is.

OH YEAH. Limiting framerate for the game also helps lol
Also, these are settings that I set for the game aaages ago that were supposed to be the most efficient or something, idk. So if you can set this stuff somehow it might help (or not.. idk) This was in NVIDIA control panel though, I don't know anything about other graphics cards, so.. yeah https://imgur.com/a/ayERqAp
you also might want to test how the game runs with/without directx12 and some other in-game graphics settings.
Again, sorry for not being able to help much lol

Have you tried putting all graphics dirt low?

Good to know. Don't really deal with AMD very much, just an old habit of pairing NVidia with Intel and Radeon with AMD.

Still leaves the question of whether the game is utilising the GeForce GTX 1650 as it should, or if it's running entirely off of Vega [CPU].

it is a quad core laptop cpu, the usage for this game seems about right as it's relatively cpu heavy and trys to push out as much as possible.

It's also an old saying to pair AMD with Radeon as the gpu's are still subpar to Nvidia's while the cpu's and the motherboardchips of AMD became alot better not just in quality but also in synergy when paired with Nvidia due DDR4 and GDDR6 working in harmony.

Getting the usage down enough for the temperature within the laptop to not skyrocket is almost impossible and even with custom cooling the laptop's getting effectively stress test treatment in this game. The usage is not a bug, it is how the game is designed and a quad core being utilized almost fully is a thing since battlefield 3. If the GPU of the CPU were in fact running the game, the utilization wouldn't be as high as the cpu only renders as much as the target framerate which is probably not more than 40 frames depending on the settings and even then the CPU and the Mobile GFX are 2 different entities that don't sandback eachother to the extent of pushing the CPU usage to that level.

there should be a way to tell the game to use the graphics card as the primary GPU. I know sometimes games like to use the onboard graphics.

So far it seems like hes saying the CPU usage varies greatly with graphics settings which shouldn't really be the case here.

OP have you told your system to designate the geforce as your main card?

unfortunately I have no real new leads other than I can run the game at 30 fps with pretty high graphics and be aroind 60-70 CPU it looks like. A massive improvement for sure seeing as how the game is actually playable now, but very disappointing for the lack of 60 fps. I just got this laptop for Christmas and was told it was a pretty great higher end gaming pc too... Handled everything else I threw at it like a champ.
