Dual Blades or Long Sword?
I have mained LS for a while now and I am considering changing to Dual Blades, I am terrible at timing the LS parries and I feel like I am losing so much dps because of it. Can someone with experience with Dual Blades tell me if they are as good as LS in terms of damage and how hard are they to learn?

Feel free to add me on steam. I'm around in World everyday and would gladly share all my knowledge with db while hunting some monsters with them.

I see tons of high rank people out damage others with dual blades, it's crazy.

yeah in the right hands and with some practice, dual blades are a great damage dealer to anything close to the ground. elemental and status DBs are some of the better damage dealers overall. the evade slinger burst is a great way to advance on something too to keep up the pressure or a good way to retreat for a quick breather.

DBs are fairly easy but theres a lot more stamina management to do. Also reach can potentially be an issue.

Any weapon you’re more comfortable with will out-damage a weapon you’re not comfortable with. Make sure to try out all weapons to see which ones vibe with you.

DBs are like top 5 in speed run times if not top 3 and have much higher DPS uptime than LS for the most part because you can just keep constantly attacking.

If you can manage stamina, positioning, and dodging then you'll do better with DB cause it's more braindead than LS imo.

This is with a more upgraded DB though. LS out of the gate require less work to max out than DBs because you need a lot of elemental upgrades for DBs to truly shine.

Might take some adjustment, it's a faster paced game style compared to LS, and your reach is as pathetic as a Deviljoh's arms, but it' a very fun weapon to play.

you'll find yourself only doing one move over and over for optimal DPS with dual blades and that's demon dance
Not exactly good advise.

Don't worry about the "braindead"-memes people like to say, some people just like to turn everything in a PVE game into a competition where they pretend their HH or HBG is a 300IQ minimum weapon that elevates it's user to some Valhalla of MHW players. It's all just as braindead one way or the other.

Just like the rest of the weapons, it just boils down to how well you can stay on top of a monster and find chances to attack. Even if you have the highest DPS weapon with the most meta build possible, it means nothing if you keep being flung around the place getting hit and running away from the monster. DB has very little recovery on attacks though, spin2win move is great for repositioning and spacing, moves just straight cancel into the slinger evade or the quickstep dodge, so it's fairly easy to find opportunities compared to most weapons. Just remember to spend all your Research Points melding Dash Juices.

the part you quoted isn't advice, it's an observation, you do demon dance on downed monsters it's not that deep

You gotta down it first. Go out there and mash demon dance as your only move as you suggest, see how far into LR it works out.

Also you don't just go straight into mashing DD, you do 3x triangle first then cancel the last hit into DD for optimal damage.

The one thing to note about DB is that despite having fast animations, it's easy to animation lock yourself. Several of the combos you can do will basically lock you in place with no chance to dodge oncoming attacks, so it's important to not get greedy and carefully choose the moments to bring out the big attacks. Also I feel you on LS. I personally think despite being the most popular weapon, LS is one of the most advanced weapons in the game to be good with (up there with SA). I'm in awe when I see a video of somebody flowing perfectly with that weapon. I can use CB very well and I'm even confident with the slow cumbersome GS, but something about LS's gameplay makes me feel like I'm constantly underperforming.
