Otherwise play out your strategy, make good use of those i-frames on backhops and try to be relentless, in alatreons fight the clock really works against you, so gotta be in good positioning and dealing constant dps as SnS. Good luck, it ain't easy.
Unless you have cartsteady or temporal mantle, don't use the clunk claw on Alatreon, you'll regret it.
For the elemental decos, it's probably better to use an elemental charm instead of 5 small decos.
When he uses lightning you perfect rush his forelegs
If you have health augment you perfect rush him during his ice breath attacks by tanking them.
When you meet the element threshold, run up to his head and do a perfect rush that stops at the shield bash before the stab and then roll and do a full perfect rush.
Focus the forelegs at all times unless in dragon form or if he uses ice breath or thunder lines.
Your going to have to learn how to draw into block and then cancel that block into backhop/perfect rush if you haven’t already.
simply get used to the moves, some of them give big openings for clutching like this move ice move where he fly up into the air and turns the area below him into ice, simply clutch for the head at this point to avoid dmg while having an option to clutch.

Build:
I personally like to run a 3p Safi (head, arm, legs) and 2p gold rathian (chest, coil) using the kjarr ice SnS. Skills are crit eye 4, crit boost 3, weakness exploit 3, health boost 3, ice attack 6, divine blessing 5, gobbler 3, blight resist 2, coalescence 2 (3 with mantle), flinch free 1 (discard this since solo), protective polish, (speed sharpening 2 on mantle).
I use immunity mantle to cure a blight and activate the 3 coalescence (this mantle is totally replaceable)
i also use temporal with 2 speed sharpening mainly to shoot him out of the air when he is yellow eyed. (skills are totally replaceable and i rarely need to sharpen mid fight since i sharpen at the beginning of his nova)
I use divine blessing secret and gobbler since i mainly play alatreon in special assignment to help ppl. Most of the time i do everything from wallbanging, tenderizing and element dmg. With these skills i can play way more aggressive. You can slot them out if you dont think you will need them, but the divine blessing secret can come in pretty handy especially if he happens to pin you with one attack and hits you with a follow up.
Fight:
Remember this comes from someone playing in a group. First thing is always keep the spot you are attacking tenderized, which in group fights are the back legs. I personally prefer using the Slash combo (look it up if you dont know what iam talking about) of the SnS over the perfect rush, since you can better dodge incoming attacks, also you wont hit the entire perfect rush combo often since he moves. Its easier just to stand between his backlegs and do the SnS slash combo for fast element dmg.
Let him be yellow eyed for the entirety of first fire phase. If he flies just shoot him down with flash pod. You want to preserve the 2 knockdowns when he is in dragonform to break his horns.
Once he is in dragonform and starts to fly, start wearing the temporal for extra savety and clutch his head. Shoot him out of the air (more reliable than wallbangs). Hit his head to break horns (dont perfect rush -> use falling bash from experience it breaks horns faster and you should be able to do two of them per knockdown). Grab new slinger ammo since he might instantly go back to flying. He should still be yellow eyed so you can clutch his head in the air again and get a second down (btw if you want to tenderize his head first use the upper cut claw move of the SnS to preserve alatreon in yellow eyes). These 2 downs + the down you get from hitting element cap are more than enough to break horn first phase.
2nd phase just repeat what you were doing first phase. Keep target tenderized, use combos that max your element dps (slash combo). Be sure you dont hit element cap while he is in fire form. You want to have that down when he is in dragonform to break his horns. Also keep your mount for 2nd phase dragonform for a 2nd down. These 2 downs should be enough to break the 2nd horn. Remember Falling Bash > Perfect rush to break horns.
Always sharpen when he does his nova. There is enough time to sharpen and still heal urself with astera jerky.
Hopefully some of the stuff is useful for you.
The trick with Alatreon is being very aggressive, since he has a very large HP pool and once you get comfortable with clearing the DPS checks your next hurdle will be killing him before the beformentioned nova once both horns are broken. Make sure to learn his openings and whenever you knock him down, perfect rush that head for massive damage! The head takes the most raw damage but not the most elemental damage. Save your mantles for when he is flying, to flinch him into the ground for good damage and openings, mind you, you can only do this when he is not enraged. If your mantles are on cooldown you can flash him when he is not enraged to bring him back to the ground.
Pay attention to moves that allow you to punish him rather freely, there are a few:
-When he is charging the multiple lightning strikes, you can easily damage his legs, just don't get too greedy as he quickly attacks once he is done charging.
-His horizontal lightning rows, they give u time to run towards him in between discharges, his head is very vulnerable and open for punishment while he is casting and he does a minor roar (non stunning one) afterwards which you can continue to punish
-Trackig lightning rows, not as easy to punish, but if he focuses on your cat you can openly attack him while he is casting it
-Fire circles, stand on the 2nd one, wait for the first one to explode then run inside and punish the head, if you fail to do it on time u can still stand in the third and run in towards the 2nd one with plenty of time to land a few good its.
-Sweeping fire breath you can iframe through it and punish the head, if you are not comfortable with iframes, punish the front legs then the head after he does the subsequent minor roar
-Ice cone attack run towards him and stand to the side of his head, very large opening to attack and subsequent minor roar
-Aerial fire/ice ground, he jumps to the air and burns or freezes the ground, good opening for a clutch claw grapple to instantly tenderize the legs with your clawriouken.
Just get comfortable with his attacks, learn their timigs and don't ge greedy, aggressive yes, but not greedy, sometimes less is more, do one less attack than you normally would if in doubt, a little less damage per combo is still more damage than you do while being on the ground or desperately running around looking for an opening to heal.
Hope this helps and good luck! I'm a SAxe main, but SnS is still one of my favorite weapons to play, I'd probably call it my second.
What finally helped me do it was picking up the kulve taroth ice weapon since it has critical element, and putting an HP Regen augment on it (I got lucky and got it after like 5 seiges). This helped me comfortably hit the DPS checks with just triangle spam on the forelegs and stay aggressive by keeping my health topped off so I wouldn't cart to a big attack after accruing chip damage. I also got the level 4 Frost Charm for frost attack.
I also dropped blight resist 3 in favor of dragon resist 3 using a mixed armor set that had no particular elemental weaknesses (giving me 23 dragon resist and immunity to dragonblight). This helped me tank his attacks if I was caught out of position. Had some *really* close calls there, but thankfully I managed to not cart.
Also, someone said to not go for a flinch shot to break the horns, and instead to just get better about hitting the head. This was *great* advice since the hitboxes on his head are really generous.
Fight went like this:
-Made first DPS check while he was in fire mode
-Punished his breath attacks to break his first horn. Opted to tank damage at times to do this, banking on HP regen to get the health back
-Couldn't break the second horn, switched to perfect rush spam to do as much raw damage as possible, then ate it on his second judgement
-Restocked my items and considered the fight "reset" since he was back in fire mode, repeat from point one
Was finally able to do it at 35 minutes on the nose. Ultimately, critical element with weakness exploit and some critical eye + frost charm is how I was able to reliably meet the dps checks while he was still in fire phase.
Someone said to *only* use perfect rush, but when I tried that, I wasn't able to meet the DPS checks. Is triangle spam better for elemental damage than perfect rush? Anyone know?
I main SnS too, but for me its hard to get DPS check (elemental). Sometimes only 1 time he is down, but i feel it the raw damage is stonger than im using LS. May I know ur weapon and armor? I was use forstcraft build before
