Laughs in MR Kushala Daora.
But in all seriousness I also had unfun moment with her first time back then when I used charge blade, mainly because her speed overwhelmed me..
What I can say is just fight the learning curve, like every other monsters her attacks would be totally predictable so fast once you fight her a few times..
Or go the easy way by using Insect Glaive, Lance, or Dual Blades, she is a cakewalk with those weapons..
Once you find out how easy she really is when you figure out how her attack animations expose her for attacks then she's a piece of cake to beat.
if no one told you about Guard Up ...
and now my comment will prompt you to go look why Guard up is even a thing
masterful game design, i know
Just join a MR 999 that will evade everything with temporal mantle and stunlock it constantly
Also I never even try to block with GL its not that good at doing it , hoping is just better.
You say you use Gunlance, watch a person fight velkhana with a gunlance to give yourself an idea of what you should be going for, that should help. But still, I don't play Gunlance almost at all but I guarantee you I could beat Velkhana if I sat next to you and gave me a controller.
Knowledge of the weapon is only a part of the equation, as long as you understand the monster's moveset well and have a good hold on the rest of the game's mechanics you can pick up any weapon and beat everything but the toughest fights. It will take you a long time because you suck at a weapon, but you will be able to stay alive and eventually do it. If you can't do it even with your main weapon then that suggests that the problem is definitely not only with how you play the weapon.
