A question about ammo crafting
How expensive is it? I've been a long sword user since I since I started MH, but always wanted to try the heavy bowgun and always was pushed back by the fact that I have to craft the ammo since that would force me to go and farm for resources. Tryed to finde info on youtube but couldnt finde anything ammo efficiency and cost related. So I'm asking here, how expensive is it? Will I have to go out of the way just to gather resources for the ammo?

Thanks

at a certain point you can green house all ammo crafting resources, and straight up buy ammo from the merchant. If you aren't horrifically undergeared for a mission the base money earned from hunts should more than cover the cost of spent ammunition.

nah, just go for it and use the farm to get materials + buy from npc shop. Also i will never understand why people lock themselves to a single weapon...i use all weapons depending on my mood or the monster im fighting... keeps the game fresh...

1. You'll never need to manual gather materials for item/ammo crafting in this game as they can be automated by farm at much higher efficiency than manual gathering.
2. A vast majority of ammo can be directly purchased from shop at a rather cheap price. I would say the cost for ammo per hunt is roughly less than 1000z in low rank.
3. Ammo costs (money and materials) varied greatly in between ammo.
In general, raw ammo like normal, spread and pierce are DIRT CHEAP and you will almost never need their crafting materials (except gunpowder).
Elemental ammo are MATERIAL-EXPENSIVE, as they run out quickly during a hunt, and if you don't want to return to camp for restock, you'll need to carry extra materials to craft them mid hunt.
Fixed damage ammo like Sticky, Wyvernammo and Cluster are both money and material expensive. But they are very unlikely to be the main source of damage during progression. Once you reached a point where you can get good enough builds to use these ammo as main ammo, you wouldn't even need to worry about ammo cost at that point.
