Nice slots, great raw, has natural white sharpness, looks good, elementless and benefits from non-ele boost, pretty much everything you want in one nice package.
Shame upgrading it in the DLC makes it subpar at best, though.
Here's the GS meta album for the base game:

But yeah, wyvern ignition,.you:LL need to do the event quest, every hunters Dream :)
GS has the slinger burst with the DLC, which basically gives you a shortcut to TCS that can also be aimed 360°. Like say, if you were charging an attack and the monster falls over behind you, you can do a 180° burst to turn backwards and charge your TCS. Note that this TCS is weaker than your TCS (Power), which is the one that you get from landing your first hit, makes you glow red and has that "SHING" sound effect.
It's associated with an event quest called Every Hunter's Dream so be sure to complete this quest during the festival! You'll have to fight a Rathalos and a Paolumu in the arena during this quest. Keep in mind that you'll need 2 tickets to craft the weapon, but you'll need 3 more tickets to upgrade it so that's 5 tickets in total.
I hope this answers your question!
But i play along time ago. Maybe meta changed :)
No problem!
The HR meta no longer changes as the only new content that is being added is exclusive to MR rank, which requires the Iceborne DLC. The DLC is definetly worth picking up if you enjoy the game as it practically doubles the amount of content.
Here's a copy paste from the MHW discord about base MHW GS sets:
Old Base game builds - (Note: these albums were compiled before IB nerfs so swap out Wyvern Ignition for Defender GS and take out Maximum Might for another skill)
https://imgur.com/a/sKm0vQI - Pre IB / Endgame World
So basically Defender GS > Wyvern Ignition.
