Small SnS guide ?
So I was looking up some SnS guides and most of them just telling you what attacks there are but not what is optimal. Like a optimal combo you should try to get or stuff like that. Is there a small guide for SnS like are there skills that are perfect for SnS to buff it and how to try to play in endgame combo wise. Like the shield bash thing in base game meta.

SnS doesn't have much in the way of combos, and there's not really anything in the way of something truly optimal. SnS is basically a toolkit that gives you a little bit of everything, and you just use what you need for a given situation.

Need the monster stunned? Shield bash its head in repeatedly, combo into the cool falling shield attack for extra style points
Need to stack elemental damage? Basic slash combo, repeat as needed
Need the monster on the ground? Use your aerial launch thing to mount it

And remember, your moveset is not just your weapon moves, but your entire item pouch since you can use items without sheathing.

SnS doesn't really have varied moveset. You have the basic slashing attacks, the backstep, the charged slash with two different followups(aerial slash or shield bash), and perfect rush.

With SnS you want to be very aggressively and keep hitting weakpoints with basic slashing attacks. In order to keep DPS up you have to capitalize on any windows available so you'll be constantly going in and out of combat.

The backstep has i-frames so you can utilize that to keep attacks going, there are also several different ways you can go into it. Perfect Rush after backstep when you see an opportunity since that thing does crap ton of damage.

Pre-IB instead of Perfect Rush, people would do charged slash and follow up with a falling shield bash, preferably to the head though I personally found this kinda hard to do.

Other than that, it's pretty straightforward. Nothing too flashy, but very efffective.

Okay than I think I just need to get used to it. Because I just tried the weapon and was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad and slow with it even with doing often perfect slash :D but kinda good to know that you don't have that many thinks you need to remember

And I guess skill wise nothing special ? No need for some unusual special deco for skills ?

First of all some SnS guids are really trash.
If you want to learn SnS seriously from the start, learn how to:
1) do the uppercut claw attack immediatly (weapon sheathed)
2) do the backhop in every circumstance (weapon sheated, character not with back to screen)
3) hit perfect rush correctly all the time.
4) do the waltz combo
5) properly use the shield bash in a combo (turning mid air)

This is a general list of things to learn in no particular order. Perfect rush for damage like already mentioned. The shield bash is nice if you want to build up stun or break head (like alatreon horns). Doing the mid air mount attack (jumping slash) is also nice if you want to get a mount for the team at a specific point in the hunt. Also with the claw uppercut you can keep parts tenderized for the team. A Very nice thing to do is when monster drools, use the uppercut move to reset stagger timer, but dont finish with tenderize attack, rather just jump of the monster again and use perfect rush. Use advancing slash to close gaps to monsters, jump off or against ledges with the advancing slash to perform attacks with mount damage. Same for mushroom walls.

Skillwise nothing special, but you can slot a few points into evade window to comfortly roll roars and attacks and to improve backhop i-frames. Also flinch free level 1 for multiplayer.

Perfect rush whenever you get the opportunity. Even getting a few hits of the combo in is pretty impactful and you can cancel it if the monster moves away. Backhop dunking is still decent if the monster is moving around a ton or if you're trying to build up a stun. If you must resort to standard slashes, I usually just stick to b slashes (m2 i think) and use y to redirect. Always try to end with a spin slash if you can.

So the first thing you're gonna wanna do is Perfect Rush.

Once you've landed it, you're gonna wanna do it again.

Here's where things get tricky: Once you've landed Perfect Rush for a second time, you're gonna wanna Perfect Rush again.

Repeat this strategy until the monster is dead.

Hi, this is the first time I've ever heard of this! The game doesn't say anything about this, and neither has anyone in the past when I've asked for gameplay tips, so I can't really see how this is my fault. Maybe you could actually explain what the hell Perfect Rush is and help make me a better player instead of being a smug ♥♥♥♥♥?

Notice the majority of the other posts in the thread mentioning perfect rush?

There's a reason for that.

Perfect rush is a combo that was added with the Iceborne update in January. It's a completely new move added to the weapon that does absolutely absurd amounts of damage.

To the point that using anything else is mostly a waste of time.

Ah see, most of my playtime is from well before then, and I've been running a new character to get back into the swing of things. I had no way to know that existed.

Consider checking out Arekkz 's video about SnS. He goes over every move in detail, as well s displays damage numbers and explains which moves are optimal and why. 10/10, can't recommend enough if you're struggling with a movelist. He also has videos for each weapon explaining the additions in Iceborne, so his tutorials are effectively up to date.

Mastering backhop and Perfect Rush are pretty much the core of SnS. If you're having trouble with Perfect Rush timing, just remember that you need to click whenever your arm is pulled back. You'll be doing it blind in no time.
