Great game....but in my opinion the Zorah Magdaros missions are stupid
I love this game a lot...but OMG those Zorah Magdaros missions are really dumb. I appreciate that the devs wanted to change up the formula a bit. But it drags out WAY too long. They're annoying as hell!

You kinda have to do several of them to beat the game.

2-3 novelty runs for the sake of variety isn't going to make that much of a dent in the long run unless the player just has...the thinnest skin on the planet.

You aren't alone in thinking that. Zorah is competing for the worst siege monster in the entire series. It's really disappointing because he looks good and some of the fight's mechanics, like attacking weakpoints on his back, are better than similar ones in previous games. If he was an actual threat then he'd at least be bumped up to 2nd or 3rd worst, but as is, he's boring and harmless.
God I miss Jhen/Dah'ren Mohran.

Normally I enjoy the big monsters you have to climb on and do something to. Shen Gao Ren and Jhen Mohran are two examples I very much enjoyed. Zorah's fight just feel... tedious. The delay after destroying all the cores and moving to the next stage doesn't help. The second part with the cannons is particularly mind-numbing imo. Just rinse and repeat of constant grab cannonball, roll to cannon, load, repeat until full, fire, and again, while trying to avoid the little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ barnos, while rarely getting to stab Zorah with a giant metal spear. I guess there's the Nerg fight... but that's not really fight Zorah, is it?

As I said, I respect that they wanted to change up the gameplay a bit. But the missions are terribly designed. It just drags on and on....Sometimes you are literally just standing there waiting for the objective to change. It's ridiculous.

They're interesting the first couple of times you do them and then they get rapidly boring yeah. It's a siege.

Doesn't help that once you get good at it, it's still stuck waiting for Zorah to make his ponderous way down the cavern, so it often leaves you standing around for five or so minutes waiting for Nergigante to show up, and then also waiting for Zorah to reach the barrier.

And then it's just loading cannons and shooting it with no real risk of the mission ending, except on the Arch Tempered version.

Not my idea of fun no, and having to do it 10+ times for a Zorah gem sucks too! But hey, at least it's something different from the usual find monster beat monster quests everywhere else.

Only twice. They're just special monsters that really every MH game has had from the beginning.

You want to bring water element type weapons to make the mission easier for yourself.
Make sure you have people who know what they are doing or you will fail every time.

This only really applies to the Arch Tempered version, where if you lack players who know how to rapidly keep loading the cannons and work fast, you'll definitely run out of time for sure.

Otherwise, most non AT fails I've seen come from people getting obliterated by Nergigante.
I like the idea of the fight and the set piece of it. But yeah, the fight itself is a snore fest. He's kinda like Lao, only a lot less fun.
