How does steamwork actually work
Are there any trick so you can get best item or it's just like RNG system so you just click anything randomly?

RNG. After you've completely overloaded it once, you can just hold right trigger to spam it and blow through your fuel.
Literally just RNG friend, either mash them buttons, or hold right trigger on your controller and pray that RNGesus has blessed you this day.

100% RNG. It's just a slot machine.

All but one event is RNG in that little Steamwork game.

The one where the cat shows which one to press is the only one where you can tell which ones to press. Sadly you don't get the last rewards during this part.

just hold down right trigger or whatever KMB key is.

That's a very mug-friendly button for placing a weight on top.

It's mainly RNG, but there's rules to it. The sequence as three buttons, and no sequence will have repeated buttons. That's all the rules. The rest is guessing.

The correct sequence goes like this: the first button, you have 1/3 chance of success. If correct, the second button, you have 1/2 chance of success. The third button guaranteed. Total chance of success is 1/6 only.

Occasionally, the sequence will be highlighted with red. If you guess correctly, you'll get rewards from the jackpot list. One of them can be Celestial Wyverian Print, which is extremely valuable. But the chance is extremely low, as there are only about 10-20 of them per the entire steam run, and you have only 1/6 chance of guessing it correctly, and about 1/5 to get Celestial Wyverian Ticket from the reward. 1/30 chance of about 20 total red sequences.

For the most part I just repeat the last combination each time. Having a batch of repeated combos happens just barely frequently enough to be better than holding RT. Of course that requires minimal attention so if you'd rather be watching a show while doing steamworks RT is your best bet.
They biggest most boring waste of time I've seen from devs recently. They could at least add an option to have your cat do it (which will just simulate having held down spacebar the entire time) cause right now it's not just boring, it's also incredibly slow. Awful terrible design decision. Whoever made it should feel bad.

You realize how much free ♥♥♥♥ it gives you right? There's a reason it takes so long...

I did think it was fairly slow, definitely slower than hitting A,W,D manually.
For controller, does the speed change based on how far you hold the trigger?
Maybe keyboard only simulates, say, 50% input whereas triggers can hit 100%?
