If you have a problem with hitting one of the buttons remap it. It could also be the timing for it, you can doing it wrong. It took me a moment to get the perfect rush for the SnS right. That combo is annoying as holding backstep makes you do the charged slash which doesn’t chain into the Rush.
The one button combo I still suck at the foresight slash. I think you can remap it to a single action with the ‘simultaneous button’ binds, but because they are in controller: I can’t find it, I will need to see the controller lexicon first.
My bindings make it:
Hold RMB to Aim
> Tap C to enter Slinger mode
> Tap Ctrl to do Thousand Dragons (Dragon Piercer combo input)
The input for switching to slinger is one button that can be remapped but you must be aiming the bow for it to work. If you're not conscience of that the training arena recommended combos can confuse you because they seem to be asking for redundant inputs. That fire into forward dodge nonsense isn't at all required for thousand dragons, rather the game is just trying to communicate to the player that thousand dragons is like a shotgun and you should close distance before using it.
Also, the V + R + Right Mouse input can be remapped to a single button. For me it's the button on side of my mouse and the slinger switch is Q, so I literally just have to hit Q and then Mouse 5.
Edit: V is also a redundant input if you're already aiming. See, now I'm doing it. It's just R + Right Mouse.
While aiming at all times.
1: Shoot an arrow
2: Dodge
3: Press down the Right analog stick which is the key that select a target.
Now you'll be put in a state where you hold up your hand and after that you activate it with the Dragon Pierce move.
I tried it with mouse and keyboard and it's actually a bit easier.
Shoot an arrow
Dodge
Press Q
Then press both Back and forward buttons on the mouse if you have ones. If not you'll have issues.
They are usable, but it doesn't mean they are going to be pleasent.
Also, you could make yourself a macro to pull this off.
go away fanboy
Keyboard and mouse is fully viable in Monster hunter world. I actually had an easier time doing the move with mouse and keyboard than gamepad.
Telling someone to do a macro to use it is rather ridiculous.
Doesn't matter. This is a port, of Capcoms best selling game ever. Even the PC version (keep in mind all development of a game is done ON A COMPUTER before being ported and "optimized" for consoles) shouldn't have these kinds of problems.
Combine that with that Capcom needs to learn to make proper keybinding options menu instead of multiple things on one single toggle (while also not blocking / disallowing multiple settings to use the same button depending on situation like slinger out, weapon draw, weapon sheathed, etc) and not release such clunky base controls to begin with.
I've played Monster Hunter since the og days, and yeah I love the various controls it's had across it's platforms, but the PC version should be PC optimized. Hell they should just ask Blizzard (which i would normally advise to never ask anything of) on how to properly set up a keybinding menu as that's about the only thing Blizzard does right anymore.
