Seriously, how to defeat Velkhana?
I find it near impossible to beat this monster, alone or in a party. Its ice breath attack is ridiculously strong, it's basically a one-shot in a wide and extremely long arc.

I have tried every weapon. I can't kill the monster. Maybe I'm missing something but this is, by far, the hardest monster I have ever fight in this game. It just plays in another league.

Any tip is welcomed, I'm getting a bit frustrated and I'm thinking about stopping playing the game.

Get Evade Window 5, practice iframes on an Odogaron with the goal of iframing literally every single last attack he uses, then give Velkhana another try

Also, most of Velkhana's moveset is combo oriented. Lots of his attacks happen as a chain of attacks, so his behavior is extremely easy to predict, especially his ice beams

He can be flashed all day. Nearly 100% weak point body. Just use ice mantle and dodge his 100000000 tail pokes

If you're getting one shot, then either your armor isn't upgraded enough, or you're still using an old set.

Upgraded rarity 10 armor should be more than enough to survive at least two hits from any of velks attacks, and you can slot in vitality 3 to improve your survivability even more.

I beat velk with a tigrex suit since the speed eating skill really helped me gobble down potions to keep my health up, so give that a try.

As with all the tougher fights in this game, the best thing you can do for yourself is keep fighting it, learn its attack patterns, and find opportunities to attack. You're probably gonna die a lot, but that's kinda the point of the entire game.

There's a few core rules to Velkhana that you should follow. First off, avoid the space in front of his head as much as possible if you're not comfortable. Velkhana's damage is largely locked up in the beam, and most of her attacks have narrow hitboxes in exchange for high speed and great range. If you keep out of her front, you're gonna have a much better time.

Luna's multi-thrust alternates positions. If it hit far, the next one will always hit close, and if it hit close, the next one will always hit far. This changes in enrage because she might also do a straight thrust as the third attack.

Velkhana has a dominant side, and is basically completely reliant on her right (Left side of your screen when you're looking at her head on). DO NOT CIRCLE TOWARDS HER DOMINANT SIDE. Her laser sweep starts from that side, her pokes, spins, and thrusts hit that side earlier. Avoid that side. always circle her towards your right and her left. With her face as 12, circle her counter clockwise.

STAY IN CLOSE. A lot of Velkhana's attacks are designed to zone you out or create space. If you can keep in close, do so. Claw is your best friend for this and can instantly gapclose on her from midrage while dodging tail attacks if you nail her head. Given how often she makes tail attacks, you can have it ready and the instant she starts the tell for one, grab her face and punish it.

You obviously didn't encounter Ancient Leshen, Extremoth, AT Xeno'Jiiva or AT Nergigante before))))

Velkhana is a fast elder. Other than full 3x ice resistance decoration, try to run a full Mushroomancer build. Pop a Mandragoras and u get full health & heal and its basically almost instant and it can save u from constant cart. The temp version hits even harder...

thought all it's fights were easy.

put 3 ice res decos. At least be +3 on ice in your armor. Maybe from helmet or something.

A fire based weapon would be good as well.

Since no one mentioned it yet, you can use IG to ez mode him with air attacks. Get white buff and maybe orange, once he starts an attack you jump to the air and smash it 2-4 times and reset. Most of its attack is for ground target so staying in air is like ez mode, slower but safer. Dont get greedy tho, prioritize you can get in and out safely so u can repeatedly do that.

Careful if u get red coz it means you will spin longer in air and be more vulnerable to get hit. No red means quick attack quick reposition.

Stack ice resistance from decorations and eat for max resistance. High ice resistance means immunity to ice debuff. I face him for 1st time with 37 ice resistance. Aint nobody got time for ice debuff.

Optionally you can watch speedrun videos of your weapon and learn to manmode it 1v1 like a pro.

Using glaive, you can jump over the sweeping breath attack and do the new dragoon dive as a neat little counter, but as a more general strategy, stick close. I'm pretty sure she always sweeps (from your perspective) left to right, so you have a clear direction, plus it's not too ridiculous to i-frame if you're comfortable doing that.

When she gets super icey, try to break her ice spike on her head, she'll topple over for some nice damage.

Please don't do this. Aerial insect glaive does like zero damage. You have the clutch claw. He loves to use his tail. His tail doesn't hit his head.

You can pretty much speedrun this as greatsword by clawing his face every time he uses his tail. Using aerial insect glaive to do what every weapon can do with the claw is just bad habits. Use Aerial IG to get mounts, not as a DPS tool.
