Also, most of Velkhana's moveset is combo oriented. Lots of his attacks happen as a chain of attacks, so his behavior is extremely easy to predict, especially his ice beams
Upgraded rarity 10 armor should be more than enough to survive at least two hits from any of velks attacks, and you can slot in vitality 3 to improve your survivability even more.
I beat velk with a tigrex suit since the speed eating skill really helped me gobble down potions to keep my health up, so give that a try.
Luna's multi-thrust alternates positions. If it hit far, the next one will always hit close, and if it hit close, the next one will always hit far. This changes in enrage because she might also do a straight thrust as the third attack.
Velkhana has a dominant side, and is basically completely reliant on her right (Left side of your screen when you're looking at her head on). DO NOT CIRCLE TOWARDS HER DOMINANT SIDE. Her laser sweep starts from that side, her pokes, spins, and thrusts hit that side earlier. Avoid that side. always circle her towards your right and her left. With her face as 12, circle her counter clockwise.
STAY IN CLOSE. A lot of Velkhana's attacks are designed to zone you out or create space. If you can keep in close, do so. Claw is your best friend for this and can instantly gapclose on her from midrage while dodging tail attacks if you nail her head. Given how often she makes tail attacks, you can have it ready and the instant she starts the tell for one, grab her face and punish it.
put 3 ice res decos. At least be +3 on ice in your armor. Maybe from helmet or something.
A fire based weapon would be good as well.
Careful if u get red coz it means you will spin longer in air and be more vulnerable to get hit. No red means quick attack quick reposition.
Stack ice resistance from decorations and eat for max resistance. High ice resistance means immunity to ice debuff. I face him for 1st time with 37 ice resistance. Aint nobody got time for ice debuff.
Optionally you can watch speedrun videos of your weapon and learn to manmode it 1v1 like a pro.
When she gets super icey, try to break her ice spike on her head, she'll topple over for some nice damage.
Please don't do this. Aerial insect glaive does like zero damage. You have the clutch claw. He loves to use his tail. His tail doesn't hit his head.
You can pretty much speedrun this as greatsword by clawing his face every time he uses his tail. Using aerial insect glaive to do what every weapon can do with the claw is just bad habits. Use Aerial IG to get mounts, not as a DPS tool.
