This game doen't use dedicated servers for the lobbies, it uses a peer-to-peer system. If the host has internet problems or a slow pc, everyone will experience these problems. If you are sure that it's not on your or your friends' end - just create a lobby for yourselfes.

I've been disconnecting from my own private lobbies and quests set to 1 player with only myself in them. Just because it's a p2p system doesn't mean it can't be poorly implemented. It's a problem if people are lagging out of their own private session that they've hosted, especially when it happens most quests and actually finishing one is the rare exception.
Capcom should be fixing the problems people have pointed out since launch instead of hamhandedly pushing performance-killing anticheat that nobody wants onto an already annoyed playerbase.

Yeah, i got disconnected last night and it was just me. Decent internet(200 down/20 up), ethernet, and a pretty good rig(3800x/980). The only thing outdated is my gpu rn but that shouldnt have any effect on lobbies closing.

you would be surprised.

but yeah the other factor is steam, it runs the P2P system and if there is a fault in the connection with their data center running all these connections, it'll cause a DC. steam P2P has been a curse on any good multiplayer game. functioning well in some areas, and horrible in others, and worse over vast distances.

the most you can do, is change your steam download server to another nearby one and see if the issue happens less frequently.

I mean, I can be on steam voice call and have it work perfectly fine but still get disconnected from monster hunter so I'm definitely feeling like it's MH's fault and not steams. Happens to me roughly every 5 hours of game time. All my other internet stuff including voice chat works flawlessly with no interruptions.

.... the voip service runs off a different connection than steam P2P. they are different protocols entirely with vastly different requirements to remain stable.

example, i can be downloading a game, but have no access to community features from steam. different protocols.

Couldn't it be the game being way too strict about kicking you out? Like the moment your connection is interrupted it just DCs you instead of attempting to reconnect? It just seems odd that base world and this had a problem when I've never had a problem with any other connectivity on steam with other games or voice.

No, the game is not too strict with disconnecting. I had plenty of hunts with suboptimal hosts where the monster would just stand around for a second after every attack. For the game to kick you, wou have to have SERIOUS lags

EDIT: The lack of reconnect is a real bummer, gotta give you that. I guess it kinda prevents griefing but still..
