Velkhana
Anyone actually beat Velkhana? I've been at it for hours now, solo and multiplayer, and every single time it ends in failure. Most of the time someone gets hit, they put their weapon away to heal, and Velk starts its breath attack and no one can superman dive out of it cause the game won't let them.

Use Frost Mantel and craft armor that actually has ice resist. Then also eat for a Elemental Resistance Large. Also make sure to use defensive decorations such as Vitality, Regen or Defense. You can do it, Pard!

I did a few hours ago solo. The secret was to stack Ice Res and eat for Elemental Res L with the Tigrex alpha armor. I was around 35 resistance and with speed eating i could go super aggressive. This way her physical attacks were more dangerous than the breaths or ice explosions. It took me 40 mins though, so that will be annoying to farm.

Velkhana isnt actually that bad once you learn all of its moves. The only thing that annoys me is it seems like it takes longer to get up from getting hit.

Velkhana is definitely not easy. Just needs a different set of skills honestly.

I mainly solved the issues with the fight by having the Iceproof mantle to avoid being Iceblighted for a time, and I have part of the Tigrex set, mainly for the speed eating with the 75% free meal chance as a bonus. Very little downtime between heals, enough that I can generally dodge her next attack. (But this is coming from a guy who plays Lance a ton, with the 3 pieces of tigrex for that bonus plus 2 from Uragaan for the Guard Up skill so I can block like everything)

I beat her solo last night with a blast switch axe (think i used paolumu's with free elem). Gave my palico shieldspire. Used apothecary and temporal mantle. Carted once, was easy.

i can help you with that

For solo, use the advice above. For multiplayer however:

Get a healer in the team who takes 10x Mega Health potion, 10x Health + 10 Honey then just spam heal whenever someone takes damage. 10x Nulberry is also a wise choice.

With 400+ defence plus 50 extra health, there's no way Velkhana can one shot you (unless you are using range weapon).

i , today , did something like 20 velkhana easy , got the ''mante'' (french name version of his rarest item ) and made the ice greatsword , so basicly i had difficulty on the 3 first then all other was easy to destroy . i solo all the dlc for now since i have no hope on other people who just cant survive . I just have a bambaro armor lvl 8 with my fire rathalos greatsword (just before the one who request a ''rathalos gem''). At this point , this is somekind of average monster .

Nobody has beaten Velkhana yet. Nobody really knows what's at the end of Iceborne. Hoping Capcom will one day nerf Velkhana so the fight is actually possible.

you need to exploit , climbing on the monster and ''grapple his head and trow all your rocks in his face so he run on a wall and fall '' . The game decide to give us all those casual easy move so lets exploit it . At any moment you can slide or just jump a little step , stay near that and try to jump on him , giving you enought time to ♥♥♥♥ him , then same when you make him run into a wall , then equip your cat with a paralyz weapon to paralyz the monster (cat dont need armor or damage , they dont ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do anything exept heal you''which is op as ♥♥♥♥ lol'') . Also use the cape given to you after defeating the lunastra , wich make you invincible for most attack , it return fast and make you able to spam attack him in a sense .
SimLec Jan 15, 2020 @ 4:20pm
but the part when you cant exploit the ''make the monster fall'' is about dodging and makin a simple chirurgical strike then roll out . i also can block the growing ice on the ground with the greatsword but cant block the breath directly . So its basicly get good and exploit the gameplay mechanics lol .

Or take the ''insectoglaive'' and stay in the air all the time and reck the complete game since the weapon is very op . so insectoglaive is the thing with the insect and staff lol

number 1 STOP using hr armour if you are, it will not cut it, take the time to work out a decent set using MR gear because you need that extra defense, even if you have to sacrifice some damage skills. i had about 725 defense when i fought her and could tank a few hits without a KO. iceproof mantle/immunity mantle helps a lot, as does palico vigorwasp. dont be too greedy with clutch claw, especially when enraged but try to soften hide/flinch shot (in that order) as much as you can it helps a LOT with dps. if you are able, use a weapon with a shield and guard up because it makes the ground ice and the breath and the falling ice a lot easier to deal with. spam jump attacks when her breath makes those ice ledges for mounts and be careful not to run out of stamina when mounting bcs shes super agressive at trying to shake u off. flash pods are also useful for a bit of breathing room if you need to pop a nulberry or change mantles
these are all i can really think of rn i hope u get her soon

pro-tip for the fight : Always stays close to Velkhana even if you want to heal. When it does it's super, run+superman dive.

And what I mean by close is long-sword poke range type of close.

yea Peachie is right about the ""spam jump attacks when her breath makes those ice ledges for mounts""once its almost break the wall can be use to jump .
