Instead of fighting with a weapon like a normal Action RPG it's Claw Hunter.
Now it's Claw > Tenderize, Claw > Wall Bang, fight against enraged monster, Claw > Tenderize, monster not enraged instant Claw > Wall Bang.
If you're playing the game right, you're playing against an enraged monster the whole time, or a downed one. I only use the rocksteady and temporal mantle, purely so I can easily claw the damn thing without getting too pissed off. I do not enjoy the claw mechanic at all, at first it was interesting. Now it's boring and repetitive.
I'm literally not going to do it anymore or I'm gonna quit this game. I still will run weakness exploit for the crit, it's still worth it without tenderized parts.
Maybe if they added a skill that let your weapon tenderize a spot with repeated hits, that could be a fix. A small deco slot.
As for OP, make an explosive focused build (Gunlance and Sticky Bowguns, mainly. Both are finally usable in IB, unlike in older games Gunlance shelling was a meme and stickies were just for KOing monsters in preparation for better ammo types like Clusters and Normals) and you won't have to give a ♥♥♥♥ about hitzones.
Most people are fine with the claw. It's more people just not wanting to get used to new mechanics then anything, frankly.
And again it's not 10000% necessary. You do not lose that much dps if you're not tenderizing.
I'd be ok with tenderizing if all weapons did it in one CC attack, and if it stuck around permanantly, or at least much longer than it does now. The clutch claw is not really my issue with the game, I have learned to accept it. However, the monster patterning and mechanics of predictably raging, and then being absolutely spastic drive me nuts. The tempered monsters all being harder exclusively by virtue of having cheap moves, being both fast and extremely hard hitting I would love to see changed. Someone on Reddit said something along the lines of it being like Capcom wanted to make it Dark Souls hard, but didn't do so with any nuance or fairness, just jacked all the monsters stats and abilities through the roof. That stuff bugs me WAY more than the clutch claw. Feeling like the difficulty is solely based on hunters being outclassed and underdogged, even with the top gear in the game at the moment.
THIS! Many popular Youtubers dislike the clutch claw, especially that you HAVE to Tenderize spots every 90 seconds, otherwise you lose damage.
Dude that's literally g rank in EVERY monster hunter game. You're supposed to be outclassed and underdogged. If you can't handle it you shouldn't be playing the game, period. It's meant to be difficult.
They have to, otherwise it would be always the same game. Every recent MH game tried something new. Sometimes it was horrible (e.g. underwater fighting), sometimes it was cool (e.g. weapon styles). I like the idea of the clutch claw and it was cool for the first 50 fights or so. Now the tenderizing mechanic is just annoying. I would love to see this removed, WEX and hitzones reverted to pre-Iceborne, while wall-banging and ammo drop can stay.
Even if they removed tenderizing from the game, I doubt they would buff WEX again. 50% crit chance from a skill that caps at 3 points was absurd.
Yeah frankly wex pre iceborne was way too powerful.
True, but even if it was just 30%, you can drop some agitator or attack boost for crit eye jewels (at least for most of the current meta sets pre-Savi). Not a big difference in damage loss.
No it's that I don't like the mechanic, it doesn't take long to learn it
Also Flinch Free exists.
Not really? If you're soloing you should (if you know what you're doing) already be hitting weak points constantly as is. All you have to do is tenderize the head every couple of minutes to keep dps at "MAX" and you're fine.
And again, it's COMPLETELY skippable. My kill times without clutching are still below 15 minutes.
