That's probably not how it works but it basically doesn't matter anyway. Just assume that it effects your bonus rewards you get from reporting in between lures, and then realise that your bonus rewards suck anyway even if you don't cart, etc.
Like Remi said, the main draw of the Grinding Lands are monster drops, which are consistent regardless to you dying 0 times or 100 times, etc.
They did kinda ♥♥♥♥ up GL with that, there is very little punishment for carting in general "unless the hunt have a fail state" in this game and even less in GL.
I don't get the rewards reduced message when I do the faint 2x suicide for Fortify 2x, since I haven't attacked a monster.
I'd just worry shinies you didn't pick up are going to be gone. Plus a waste of time and items.

Compared to normal quests where you can fail a quest for use up all carts, the GL penaltys arent that hard, you are mainly there for the shiny drops.
