Every 5 or so minutes you can flash, if the flash causes a knockdown, the second one will stun and then you have to wait.

If you go to a higher elevation the nova doesnt hit. I was right in its face on a ledge as tall as ur toon. Sat right in her face and swung my hammer thru the entire animation. Not one tick of damage.

Earlier in the fight tho I jumped off a cliff and put 50 yards of solid rock between me and that AOE and it still clipped me.

I went about it the same way as HR Lunastra, not much different.
Don't know which weapon you are using, but with HH I have no issues.

I totally agree with this. Lunastra and Teoatra are two of the easiest elder dragon fights simply because I use elderseal. I personally run the nergigante hunting horn, and the elderseal effect procs so often that if a fight goes well, she literally never supernovas because I elderseal her out of her "fiery" state, even if I'm the only one using elderseal.

I know no hardly anyone bothers to do this, but if you run a hunting horn with windproof on it (the Shara ishvalda horn works fantastic since it is also great at procing eldersealig) the fight becomes EXTREMELY trivial for the entire team.

Anyways, I really enjoy the fighting the Lunastra, (even if I can't be bothered running a counter build), and I seriously don't get the point of complaining about monsters.
The funniest thing about the counter build is that if you play LS or Insect one of the best sets is the Silver Rathalos set, the flinch free and windproof really do help as you stated I can even fit it normally into my damage build, its so trivial because that boss relies so heavily on the flinches, complaining about monsters is honestly just a waste of time when so many options do exist.

When you mentioned that there are so many options, it occured to me that you can to an extent, "trivialise" every fight simply by building defensively. I run heath boost 3, divine blessing 3 and earplugs 5 on EVERY Loadout (and yes I have like 30). I try to fit in flinch free 1 and medicine/recovery up 3, and some builds I use super recovery.

I still have space for critical eye 7, weakness exploit etc, and stuff like power prolonged, magazine, forceshot and other weapon specific skills.

I'm curious to know how other people build, especially the ones complaining all the time.

Exactly and while im not a big fan of those skills the armor sets in Master Rank really push for it and the slots especially on the rarity 12 items give you all that space to work with.

Lots of people suggest Fireproof Mantle, and while this is excellent advice, the best way to survive the supernova is Wind Resist, either from armor/decos/charm or HH buff. It's the wind pressure that always got me, but with it negated it's easy to spam dive to avoid nearly all damage.

i wonder how many level of wind pressure do you need to not getting flinch by her initial super nova ?

you can spam supermandive while he casting it but when your character get up it always the wind pressure that gonna make you takes the burn

she is not as bad as tempered monkey tbh. that battering ram move is just way too quick and no windup or tell given how much dmg it does.

You just need windproof, fireproof mantle and max potions, I bring the mats to craft 5 more and have the crafting command on my radial menu

i rarely have problems with lunastra infact her and teostra are my favourite monsters in the game (mostly for the music by also enjoy the design).
What i do against her nova is that I hug her and keep attacking for the lifesteal and then i just parry the final explosion. I kill her in 6-7 minutes with the gunlance.

this with max divine protection and good fire res decos you will have enough time to get out of the kill zone. Ps its not the nova that kills is the ticking damage.

Eat astera jerky to full heal the red hp it does as well, can save you quite a bit since its like a max potion against that nova tick damage.
