If she is spamming super nova it usually means you are not doing enough damage.

Frankly AT Lunastra was always the enemy I basically didn't bother with. I did one no-feint run and left it at that because the "challenge" posed by her is just unenjoyable.

Now you're telling me they managed to make the AT version even worse? Thanks for the warning I'll avoid her like the plague.

if she spams it just flash her every now and again so you can control when she tries to commit attempted murder.

pending on the local you fight her in, in elders recess never neglect the boulder room and the toad alley. when she is enraged she WILL follow you to those zones. from there its a matter of abuseing the enviroment for easy knockdowns all the while trying not to die.

i actually stopped a super nova with boulders breaking her wings. then again later a sticky i fired exploded breaking the horns stopping her nova.

as for her quick mini nova, the trick is to get under her, there is a gap at her face that one doesnt affect.

You can tank it with fireproof. If you don't have fireproof you need to farcaster, which requires you to roll her nova roar. Or you could just actually hit her when she's doing the super telegraphed nova charge move. Don't bother with cutting weapons, they all suck on her except CB and GL, but CB just dunks on her.

There is also not much room between her attacks to damage her enough to smack her out of her elder dragon rage.

Flash don't work after 1 time for me, so that is just one delay till death

I tried to fight her in the guiding lands, after 7 carts I finally got her health critical and then she just left. I will never ever voluntarily try to fight her again, that fight was the stupidest fight I ever fought in the MH franchise.

yeah the guiding lands monsters have internal timers that start as soon as they are engaged, if they stop taking damage for too long they eventually leave. dealing enough damage though will keep them around.

so if your fight consisted of, being blown around, holding your ears alot, and otherwise running around like a chicken with your head cut off trying not to die, thats why she left even at critical health.

but i agree, she is not fun to have to fight for any reason.

Fireproof mantle is your best friend in this fight.
Shift Feb 16, 2020 @ 4:59pm
Even tho I've managed to beat her about 50 times already and I can do it quite fast, she's still not enjoyable to fight and the most BS monster on the game. She have way too much tools to use (she's as fast as nergigante, have kirin's hardened scales, can zone with her blue patches, have a party wide 1hko, wonky hitboxes, take an eternity to land and is immune to flash when flying, can be as annoying as azure rathalos when flying (and I think not even slinger flinch can bring her down) and a constantly damage aura near her on par with ancient leshen if your fire mantle happens to be down). If this were a book, she would be the mary sue of it. Not even kushala can reach that level of annoyingness.
Rialstrom Feb 16, 2020 @ 5:26pm
To me... the only real annoying part of her is the nova. 53 fire res from armour, decos, and food with 200 HP and the nova still tears you apart. They may have up the physical def, but they did nothing with the elemental defs.
Nerevar Feb 16, 2020 @ 5:34pm
imo tempered rajangs headcharge attack is more bs than anything cancernastra can throw at you currently. that move is :

fast. check.
no windup anmation. check.
does about half your hp on hit. check.
has a huge hitbox. check.

like seriously. all his other attacks are fair and either have a huge tell before he does em or they do little dmg like his jumping around. everytime i carted to him it was THIS ONE ATTACK. all the time. if he hits you before and then decides to follow up with this crap the chance of a cart is stupid. even with health boost 3.

its crazy over tuned for how quick it is and without warning it does way too much dmg for such a move. seems to me devs learned nothing from ATs nergs broken move. sigh. not looking forward to new ATs after seeing this crap again.

lunas nova is pure bs aswell. but atleast windproof shuts it down completly if needed. and soon we have a windproof 5 charm.

Yeah i was also getting pissed by this stupid nova spam even with an endgame build.
The solution to survive is to dive 2-3 seconds after she started the nova, it will prevent you from being hit by the second charge which is the killer here. ofc you're going to be low hp if you survive.
Important, do not dive right after she started, you will get carted for sure because you won't be able to dive again.

Or, you know, just bring the Fireproof Mantle and a couple of Cool Drinks.
