No intro cutscene for a new monster

I just did the story mission for Ebony Odogaron, followed the tracks to it and when I found it, no cutscene, they just started attacking me. I watched the intro scene for Ebony on a let's play, so why didn't I get it? It's not in my gallery either.

I feel kind of cheated tbh.

I would blame using mods.

If you are not using mods, you're the first player in the 15 years of the series who didn't seen intro to new monster.

I'm using one mod, and that's a light pillar mod for drops and slinger ammo. I find it really unlikely that it would mess up the cutscenes, but idk.

Belive me, nothing ever is too minor to have an impact on something.
I've learned that when I was working as game designer.

There is a reason why companies do not support for technical issues players who use mods.

Try reloading the quest, if you haven't done it already.

It's okay, unlike other monster intro cutscenes around that time you don't get free carves off the old monster that got beat up.

Ok yeah, something's definitely not right, just did the Acidic Glavenus story mission and got no cutscene for him either. I finished it and the story is progressing like normal, and before this I got all the other story cutscenes in Iceborne so far except these last two.

It's just so weird that that it's pretending these scenes don't exist lol.

Which area number did you find him?

I don't remember the number, but it was at the bottom, you know where you usually find Vaal Hazak with the acid pools. Just jumped off the ledge there and mounted him lol, no intro or anything. At this point I have no idea what's wrong with my game, but since it hasn't crashed or gotten stuck at any point, I'll just keep playing and see what else is missing.

I agree with Katitoff and would attribute the cause of this issue to mods as well.
The game doesn't officially support them and I've seen some really weird issues mentioned by players that could all be traced back to mods.

You could try to uninstall the mod and then verify your game files through Steam. This will probably fix the issue in my opinion.

That's strange, you don't find him there, at least not at the first sight.
The mod itself couldn't mess with cutscenes, but maybe the loader can tho. But if you had the mods before and saw the other monsters cutscenes, then you might want try to "verify integrity of game files" on steam.

Ok, so I went to Nexus where I got the mod and sure enough, there's people on there complaining about also not getting monster intro scenes, so yeah, it's the mod. Sucks, but got rid of it so hopefully it'll be fine now.

Kinda sad though, you can't replay story missions so I'll never get those scenes in my gallery, unless I ever decide to replay the whole game as a new character.

I'm very sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, modding does come with a risk as it's not officially supported by Capcom.
It's probably best to keep the game completely vanilla in my opinion as the issues that arise with using mods are definetly outweighing the benefits.

Isn't there some way that you can still unlock those cutscenes? Maybe loading a backup, which will cost you some progress but you'll still get those cutscenes. Depends on whether or not you've made backups from time to time.

Eh, I've seen them elsewhere and that's fine for me, it really only bothered me in a completionist kind of sense. It was really more about finding out if something was really broken with my game, which thankfully was not the case.

This isn't the first time I've modded a game and had bad things happen, and it definitely won't be the last either. Just glad it was sorted out.
