How is Ruiner Nergigante easy?
I hear people on this forum saying it is easier than tempered or just regular nergs from the base game. Yet I still see even some of the best players cart to him, some of his moves come out so fast that you require incredible reflexes to avoid, and they do so much damage as well like the sideway swipe into spike combo or the almost instant charging attack. I can't imagine what the tempered one will do if the regular one is already hitting this hard.

AT Nergi is a high bar in terms of difficulty. Ruiner at least feels fair. If you get hit by any of the attacks it feels like its your fault you're given enough time to react perform accordingly. I'd prefer a tempered version of this instead of that utterly garbage AT Nergi fight.

First blind encounter -- didn't know what to expect. Ate tonnes of damage. Carted twice but completed the story mission and went off to do other things.

A day after the story was complete -- stood at back legs and spammed buttons like a keyboard smashing hobo, occasionally dodging a body-check and watching for his 'look at me I'm telegraphing my aerial dive' move. Took my free loot and crafted a full set just for the hell of it. Definitely one of the easier MR Elds to learn.

I'm sure he gives people problems, much like how every Elder Dragon gives certain people trouble, but I'd go as far as say he's relatively well balanced (if you compare it to obnoxious fights like MR Lunastra).

When ATnerg was added he was a major spike in difficulty. It seems that to most people ruined is a spike in difficulty, but nowhere near the same.

You need to also remember that the almighty clutch claw REALLY upped our power, and our stun potential. A proper group, or solo hunter, will make sure to get two wall smashes before Nerg even knows what hit him. Especially if you use the distraction pod shot trick to make sure he never gets to roar when you open by clutching onto his face.

EDIT: Onto his face. Not into.

Tempered ruiner has that one move AT Nerg had. You know, that *teleports behind u slam*

Have fun with that

He is one of the easier Elder dragon fights in Iceborne, and he is easier than several other challenges in the game as well. He also is still pretty familiar from his base MHW version, and many people farmed the crap out of him there, so his moveset is still largely well known. He is also one of the monsters that is least super spastic in Iceborne, still leaving good openings to exploit. Once you get familiar with him, he's a big kitten.

As a LS user, I'd say ruiner is harder. Sure the dive and most moves are now easier, except one is just BS. The move that ruiner just claws you up from the ground without any warning.

Even for pepega slam, hated by most players you can still see it coming. Pepega slam is usually followed by nergi jumping and bumping you. But I still can't see what kind of animation ruiner has before he use his stupid claw attack.

Ive only played the preview of him. But simply put, he is much slower with no dive bomb. Speed and ability to leap the entire zone was his strength
Hare+Guu! Feb 17, 2020 @ 2:03am
Iceborne in general has been easy. Probably because of the combination of clutch claw, 4slot deco, and the ease of getting endgame augments.

That being said, ruiner wasn't much of a threat during story missions when I was in my never use clutch claw phase. I can't compare him to at nerg though since I stopped playing after the witcher collab. As far as hr nergs go, they're more or less the same.
AT Nerg was much harder. Stack up on vitality jewels, make sure you eat to get that 200 health

Ruiner is easier to deal with solo than with a group.

When fighting him solo, his attacks all have very clear tells, and they aren't hard to avoid if you know how they work, which is fairly the same as AT and HR.

Secondly. Ruiner Nergigante evolves as the fight drags on. His new moves only becomes apparent when you fail to break the metallic spikes before they fully form. You have about ten minutes, and most players who fight him only spend about 14mins fighting him solo.

If you smash a good majority of these spikes hes as easy as HR Nergigante. Fail that and GG. They don't regrow by the way.

Thirdly. He has some of the major weakness of his past iteration. For impact weapons, they can constantly knock him on his ass.
