Do you inspect teammates?
A friend has been clearing optionals and he always fires an SOS. He's been getting a long string of people joining his quests and immediately leaving, resulting in empty slots and making the quests take longer than usual.

The only thing I can think of is people inspecting his equipment and then leaving based on that (he doesn't build very well). But for simple optional quests against regular monsters, that seems a little extreme. What else could it be?

I've never inspected anyone. Why would I care what they use? As long as they're not cheating. If I did, I'd end up kicking everyone for using transmog. I also solo all my hard investigations, because I don't trust sos regardless of their mr/gear anymore.

For regular hunts against MR1/MR2 monsters i don't check, but if we're talking about G.rathian or any elder dragon for that matter especially if they were tempered then i always check

If they're swinging a weapon I'm cool with them.

They being disconnected midhunt would be most logical reason behind that.

I do check people build, only after the hunt ends.

Some of them could be inspecting, but people leave for almost countless reasons.

It's not midhunt, though. They join the quest and then immediately leave without fighting. It could be a connection issue, but it's not unstable for me when I party with him.

Sometimes post hunt just to see what people use.

Depends on the quest and monster. For example I'll generally check players before joining an Extremoth hunt to see what roles they're taking up (tank, healer, or DPS) and to make sure I don't drop into one where the other three players have sub 400 defense and get oneshot by everything.

It can be their connection that sucks. Like two days ago i join random sos, walks like 3 area to finds out 3 people and 2 monster freeze in place before abruptly disconnected, left standing alone with 2 angry monster.

ps: my internet suck at certain hours, so yeah.

This, and just to add, today I finish an "odd" investigation with 3 friends. The odd thing is, this odogaron (target) hasn't died yet, but 2 of my friends with blue and green color name "clean their thigh" as a show they have finished the quest while I as yellow color name and host the red color name still in the middle of fighting. Since we play in cyber cafe, the green and blue watch us finish the quest with all of us having "WTF is happening here?" kinda face.

So yeah, currently mhw got ton of connection issue.

Yeah, you guys are probably right.
If people are leaving often this might be a symptom that they're having regular ISP issues, or the game itself. I really don't think people joining an SoS ever care what gear the host has, you can already see their HR/MR from the SoS list and make assumptions enough from that before joining someone.

I check after hunts out of curiosity to see what people are running. Seems around 90% are running loyal thunder at high MR xD.

I almost never use flares, and when I need to use a lobby for testing purposes, it's almost always exclusively to test things a single player encounter can't do. So even if I did inspect people, I wouldn't find anything normal.
Greb Feb 16, 2020 @ 1:47am
I inspect people who join quests, sure. I don't do it before accepting their join request though, it's set to automatic. I'm not anal about it either, I don't immediately inspect peoples stuff unless I'm either curious about their build (fellow Hammer users, mostly) or I'm suspicious about various things.

Normally even when I'm not the host, I'll inspect peoples set ups at the end of a quest during the waiting period, sure. I'm always curious seeing the kind of skills people use, and I'm never condescending unless I recognise the gear set as being a 100% match to some generic Youtubers set, and even then, only under my breath and not in game chat.

I don't spot cheaters often, but I have done. People with giant purple sharpness bars, people with no decorations in their gear but a whole page of maxed out skills, stuff like that. Most undetectable unless you're a nerd like me...I barely ever catch it in time to notify the host via a quick message sent to specified players, and the few times I have, nothing has been done anyway lol.

When I'm idling in a session that I've joined and it has like 8+ people, I'll inspect peoples gear randomly, sure. You see cheated equipment all the time if you do that, which is probably why I'm so cynical when it comes to "mods" in general, but eh. I never call people out though, at least not in session wide chat. There's basically no point - I just move to another session, especially if it's the session owner in general.
