I also made the same with the Garuga lance for those poison weak monsters.
but, they make up for this with their abilities they can utilize most effectively. HH, got element and attack up songs, pack some CC resistances of varying kinds to fit the hunt, KO and Exhaust are useful too dont see longsword doin anything like that.
Lance is great at elemental damage, surviving poke attacks and using them to counter poke, counter claw, or spring into a mounting attack. also very mobile.some scrub in your group hanging out at the other side of the room drawing all the monster attention? rush over and give it a super poke.
if you want to inform people you got to use more than opinion bruh.
edit: speed runners are way different from normal players. damage is nothing if you cant land all your hits. and speed runners typically abuse a weapon mechanic to meet their goal based on its function. i saw a speed run with a safi hammer using affinity slider to kill a kusha. but you know what? he probably didnt get his fast run on the first try, he probably reset over and over till Kusha was where he wanted it so he could murder it without stopping.
