Well, at least you can find some 5 Faint Investigations, and do them either on your own or with the mission being set to 2 people only so as to keep your Palico armed with Vigorwasp Revival on the field too! Stuff like that.
Yeah though I can see your point. Relying on randumbs is the first step to quest failed, returning to base, indeed.
Everything is easy except lunestra
When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail!
tempered jang which is also t3 and pickle disagree with this statement tough. tempered silverlos and gold rath are also pretty crazy compared. luna is only difficult because of the nova tbh.
You can only get shadow core ore in T3 tempered investigations ( which is rare to find in coop, you usually need to run it solo).
It is greatspirit vein gem that you can get from elders in the grinding land.
I am surprised some people find Lunastra harder than other elders. You just need a farcaster and approach him fron the flanks. If you take nova out of the equation with farcaster or superman dives well timed, Luna is not the hardest at all IMO.
In coop fighting tempered elders in the GL, Namielle, Velkhana, Kirin, Rajang or Gold Rath cart people at least as often in my experience. Even Ebony odogaron tempered can sometimes cart people more times than Luna.
Just saying by the time you're MR 99 you likely have two or three regions sitting at Level 6 so you'll be ready to begin farming those Guiding Lands materials immediately, but if you want every material you need to shuffle regions around to Level 7 unless you join others, since you can't have 'em all at 7 at the same time, which is why I said Grinding Lands materials are the true end game, it sucks up a lot of your time in comparison to Phantomcore and Shadowcore which you just generate from universal T3 quests (which I'll admit, isn't restricted to Elder Dragons because Savage Deviljho, Seething Bazelgeuse and Rajang are also T3)
In my experience it is more difficult to get shadowcore ore, i have no issues getting any part from any monster because there are so many sessions in GL so if i cant lure something by myself due to GL regions deleveling when you level others, i just join someone s game and get what i want fairly quicky, either because they are hosting a specific monster or by asking after helping them for 1-2 monsters, quite often the (kind) hosts even ask if you want a particular monster to spawn.
Shadowcore ore on the other hand... very few host these missions for coop, it is quite rare and if you play alone, it is tedious to fight Kushala alone for me for instance ( not hard but annoying to me) and the drop is not guaranteed.
For me it is the most annoying material to get with the Shara Ishvalda tenderplates or something ( mats that you canget by breaking his head twice) though that s probably cause i am not using ranged weapons and dont enjoy this (usually long) fight much.
Great spirit vein gems are not hard to get but they deserve a mention too because I needed so many to augment all the weapons/armor pieces i wanted to augment, so a lot of grinding needed for those too due to the amount of them that you need. It depends how many different weapons you use though.
But i had to augment like 6 switch axes, about 10 pieces of armor or more, 4 hunting horns, 5 CB, 2 longsword etc.. i needed a ton of those gems.
