Shadowcore Ore?
I’ve read the wiki and seen other posts, the wiki mentions you can obtain it in the guiding lands but where and how rare?

How rare is it from temp elder dragon investigations too?

use vouchers and pet your pig. about 50/50 chance to get one. its really not that rare and you only need a few of em for charms. nothing else.

Shadowcore Ore is tied to a quest with various faint limits. I've seen these fail a lot. Velkana is probably the best bet to avoid too many faints with randoms.
Yeah actually I suppose you are right there. I was fortunate enough to have an "A-Team" to do all of my Tempered Elders with, so actually I guess I need to "check my privilege" in that respect lol. Whoops, my bad.

Well, at least you can find some 5 Faint Investigations, and do them either on your own or with the mission being set to 2 people only so as to keep your Palico armed with Vigorwasp Revival on the field too! Stuff like that.

Yeah though I can see your point. Relying on randumbs is the first step to quest failed, returning to base, indeed.

Tempered Val Hazak is the easiest imo. Kirin is also very easy. So is namielle.

Everything is easy except lunestra

Lunastra is only difficult because people don't bring stuff like Windproof and Earplugs and then bite the dust when she combos them dead, lol. She's fast, she hits hard, and has a few methods of immobilising you. When you remove those methods, she's just like any other monster.

When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail!

tempered jang which is also t3 and pickle disagree with this statement tough. tempered silverlos and gold rath are also pretty crazy compared. luna is only difficult because of the nova tbh.

Pickle boi is easy, though. I feel like I can trip him up the most out of all the T3s. Granted, I suppose this would depend on weapon usage, tho; what weapon are you using?

You do have to wait until you are MR 100 to get Shadowcore ore, true enough, which definitely adds to its rarity, but considering fighting Tempered Elder Dragons is what you've been working towards at that point I'd imagine as soon as you hit MR 100 you'd be doing them in your Guiding Lands and immediately farming their Investigations for decorations, etc.

Meh.

You'll be hungry for a lot of things in the end game. There's so many things you need, it's pretty overwhelming, but at least Phantomcore and Shadowcore Ore are universal among many items, not like needing a specific Tempered Elder Dragon material in the Guiding Lands or something.

You can only get shadow core ore in T3 tempered investigations ( which is rare to find in coop, you usually need to run it solo).

It is greatspirit vein gem that you can get from elders in the grinding land.

I am surprised some people find Lunastra harder than other elders. You just need a farcaster and approach him fron the flanks. If you take nova out of the equation with farcaster or superman dives well timed, Luna is not the hardest at all IMO.

In coop fighting tempered elders in the GL, Namielle, Velkhana, Kirin, Rajang or Gold Rath cart people at least as often in my experience. Even Ebony odogaron tempered can sometimes cart people more times than Luna.

Yes indeed. However, you can only meet (and join) Tempered Elder Dragons after you reach MR 99 and clear the Ruiner Nergigante quest, which also locks Tempered Elder Dragon Investigations at MR 100 I believe? I haven't actually looked at the requirements but I'm pretty sure it's MR 100 to join Tempered Elder Dragon Investigations, which is what I was getting at.

Just saying by the time you're MR 99 you likely have two or three regions sitting at Level 6 so you'll be ready to begin farming those Guiding Lands materials immediately, but if you want every material you need to shuffle regions around to Level 7 unless you join others, since you can't have 'em all at 7 at the same time, which is why I said Grinding Lands materials are the true end game, it sucks up a lot of your time in comparison to Phantomcore and Shadowcore which you just generate from universal T3 quests (which I'll admit, isn't restricted to Elder Dragons because Savage Deviljho, Seething Bazelgeuse and Rajang are also T3)

Yes you are right, you need to be above mr100 to unlock tempered investigations.

In my experience it is more difficult to get shadowcore ore, i have no issues getting any part from any monster because there are so many sessions in GL so if i cant lure something by myself due to GL regions deleveling when you level others, i just join someone s game and get what i want fairly quicky, either because they are hosting a specific monster or by asking after helping them for 1-2 monsters, quite often the (kind) hosts even ask if you want a particular monster to spawn.

Shadowcore ore on the other hand... very few host these missions for coop, it is quite rare and if you play alone, it is tedious to fight Kushala alone for me for instance ( not hard but annoying to me) and the drop is not guaranteed.

For me it is the most annoying material to get with the Shara Ishvalda tenderplates or something ( mats that you canget by breaking his head twice) though that s probably cause i am not using ranged weapons and dont enjoy this (usually long) fight much.

Great spirit vein gems are not hard to get but they deserve a mention too because I needed so many to augment all the weapons/armor pieces i wanted to augment, so a lot of grinding needed for those too due to the amount of them that you need. It depends how many different weapons you use though.

But i had to augment like 6 switch axes, about 10 pieces of armor or more, 4 hunting horns, 5 CB, 2 longsword etc.. i needed a ton of those gems.
