Protecting yourself from Lance charge?
I spent half of a Teostra SOS knocking down a hammer with my lance, and I felt bad about it. He wasn't using Flinch Free at all, but the reaction from lance's charge looks like a knockdown instead of just a stumble, so are higher levels of Flinch Free needed to protect yourself from it?

I think FF3 may be need for the attacks that knock you down, for anything more than that and FF is useless altogether.

yeaaaa, don't charge through people. If you're on track to run someone over while fighting, do a leaping mounting attack from the charging move. Also, if this is such a problem for you, also learn to use the shield thrust into lance thrust combo that also works as a gap closer. That combo has a free shield block worked into the 1st part so it's real nice to integrate into your regular moves.

Yep, I think the same goes for the power guard thrust, leaping thrust, and the uncountered counter-thrust:
FF1 = no effect
FF2 = reduce to a stumble
FF3 = negate entirely

It was when the monster was toppled, it wasn't a gap-closing thing. When the monster's tail is already cut, it can be difficult for Lance to do good damage without tripping everyone in the room. Don't worry, I stopped charging on those, but I was interested in finding out if Flinch Free 1 would have made a difference. Looks like it wouldn't have, so I guess it's back to poking unless the coast is clear.

i hate when lance people do this, theyre already lowest dps out of all the other weapons and they have the nerve to knockdown and stagger teammates

Lance charge only focus on a tiny area , may be just may be you know , don't freaking charge on people ?
And no , Flinch 1 won't save them and Flinch 3 is expensive to slot in .

Learn to use the lance and you wouldn't have low dps.

If you're assuming that speed runner times have something to do with damage output for normal people + multiplayer I think you're sorely mistaken. Speed running needs absolute perfection, of course then whatever has the highest dps is going to win. This is not the reality of normal combat and much less multiplayer with a monster that moves around like crazy and gets to throw around its biggest attacks with everyone but lance fleeing.

Every time on nearly every monster on Lance on those leaderboards is still under 5 minutes. Soooo...

You get bonus points if you charge into a Hammer user during their Big Bang combo.

oof too real. But that hammer probably upswung a GS midway out of his TCS animation, so it's all good, esp when the HBG clusters every one of you

why are you holding lance charge while you are already at the monster? lance charging damage *besides the finisher* is less dps than the 3 poke combo. use your shield push/thrust which is holding block and clicking LMB while moving foward, then press RMB and foward while holding block to close the gap. dont charge around like some ass
