Thank you, I may take you up on that. I'm going for a walk right now. I'll be back after though. I can play then.
Edit: nevermind I just confirmed my own thing, I'm going to re-examine my build and look for another way at doing this.
Oh I'm stuck at my first special investigation with Kirin. Normally I wouldn't have a problem, even his tempered version I can solo, but his MR is way beyond what I can do. I need stun resistance, armour spheres to upgrade my armour and money, because everything is super expensive.
The fights won't last long when you got the right gear.
If you have the strongest HR gear set you can deal with the first few monsters in MR and everyone had to do this. It hasn't changed in the updates.
You can craft the Defender Gear which is meant to help people get into MR.
Okay, here's the thing, complete the main story in Low Rank and High Rank. Master Rank is meant for you AFTER that part.
You can search on Youtube how to make money because there are ways to do it.
Already did that, I'm looking at the botanic garden, cause I only have the first 1. I'm actually hunting for ebony odogaron's mantle so I can get his final weapon upgrade. It has a bit more attack and affinity then my paralysis weapon, I'm gonna get stun resistance from that gleavues monster armour, and then it's on to money/jewel business.
Edit: also after all that I'll head towards teostra, get his armour set, and use that against kirin.
hang in there buddy. i wish i had a good path for you to follow in MR but i got just as spun around and i hadn't played ib before either.
take your time hunting, each hunt in IB drops nice rolls at the level 4 decorations, and keep collecting those every chance you get. sometimes the armor itself is the gate, other times its a few space saving lvl 4 decorations.
i mean, if you've been able to kill toaster this early that's already quite the accomplishment imo. MR versions hit way harder and give you less chances to retaliate.
Armor spheres and money are going to be extremely scarce if you have been rushing through the game and keep making new gears, there aren't any workarounds other than farming them with efficient ways like event quests.
Going back into HR from MR also isn't a complete waste of time. Some HR optional quests unlock useful utilities like botanic research upgrades, canteen ingredients, while some unlocks special equipment (mainly mantles). If you are short on time, look up some guides/wiki for quest lines tied to these upgrades so you can skip other truly optional content.
To wound, you latch on with the clutch claw and attack a specific part of the monster (tenderising it) which will take additional damage from attacks for 3 minutes. Heavy weapons only need one wounding attack, while light weapons need two.
Flinch-shots are where you latch onto the monster's head (while it isn't enraged), hit them to face them towards a wall, then fire your slinger ammo to make them charge the wall and topple over. There's a tutorial event for that mechanic that lets you practice.
If you're just farming one monster, tailor your build against it. Teostra is worth maxing out fire resist. Then choose between anti dragon for suppressing its super nova, or whatever water/ice element it hates the most. It's handy to keep 3 small gem slots as a way to quick swap resistances between monsters. At least it's far easier to get 3 resistance gems compared to maxing out every resistance necklace.
Clutch claw is the big meme tool in MHW. Every class should be very aggressive with tenderizing monster parts with wounds, throwing them head first into walls, or even using the ammo drops to deal non stop staggers.
