Hunter Rank 15-29

Hey! I just completed the story and I got a message that said I unlocked and can now progress my hunter rank from 15-29. So with that being said I went to my guild card and noticed I was already 29 without doing and quests after the story how did this happen? Is it a bug or?

All the quest you completed before finishing the story added xp to your HR for when it would unlock after finishing the story, now you have to complete another quest to unlock it again

Nah you still earn "Hunter Rank Points" while doing the story and you got enough to reach HR29 right away :)

The story limits your HR until you complete it. Afterwards, you're shown your true rank from all of the hunting you've done during the story. Now you have to defeat the twin tempered Bazels to increase that cap and grant access to more content. You'll likely jump up a few levels again after that fight since you've actually already passed that cap as well.

Until HR 15, you progress only through the story. Under the hood, you're still gaining XP when you grind, so when you finish the story, jumping right to 29 means you've hunted enough monsters. You'll keep gaining under the hood while locked at 29, and when you complete the next quest to proceed beyond 29, you'll jump in ranks again.

It's normal, you HR is accumulated from every single hunt you, but was locked by the story
So after you kill Xeno you HR progess completely unlock which result in that, now do the 2 temperature B-52 then you'll see your true HR, tempered Kirin at HR 49 and no more lock

Its not a bug, your hunter rank points keep accumulating despite the rank being quest locked, once you pass the quest your hunter rank increase.
You will get another rank lock quest at hunter rank 49 but after that its unlocked.
