Should i use elements on kinsect ?

All the post i found where quite old so asking here if anything changed. All the info i found said there is not a huge diffrence for it, but ts best to use the kinsect that the monster is weakest too.

edit : im currently got drachen styx set with cute little white moth the pseudocath set to dragon element.

Yes if you plan to have a kinsect with high Heal stat because it have higher stamina, as well as decent power and speed (low power make them hit like a mosquito, low speed and you have a flying turtle)
Otherwise use them to gather buff then give the monster your shaft

As far as I know using elements on kinsects gives you better damage everytime, as long as it's the one the monster is weak to.
However, the damage gain throughout a hunt is minimal since kinsects don't contribute much compared to the actual weapon.

Doesnt matter, kinsect damage its minimal and most damage comes from the status it proc with the clouds.

So best stats are Stamina and speed, ignore damage since most kinsect with hight damage have poor stamina meaning lesser clouds or low speed meaning harder time getting you buffs.

So really doesnt matter if you go elemental or not but fire kinsect can re-ignite lavasio scales :)

Nobody use pseudocath to dust anyway, hight attack/speed are only to get the buffs and then never again use them.

Nah. Your Kinsect isn't for damage, or tail cutting, it's for getting essences and powering you up. Everything else is just a novelty you shouldn't rely on or look too much into.

Grab the ones with the highest speed. Disregard everything else.

The only times you'll ever bother with sending your Kinsect out to attack is when you're having trouble hitting a certain essence spot and decide to melee-mark them instead and hope your kinsect is smart enough to figure it out. Even the dust clouds are meh.

You could delete the Kinsect entirely and give the Glaive a kind of reverse Zero Sum Discharge attack that is performed a lot faster, where you gouge into a monster part and suck out the essence manually for power ups. Kinsect Glaive becomes Drain Glaive. There would be barely any difference, except crying about not being able to use it on flying monsters.

That's what your dual bladed big sharp stick is for!

Get some red essence in you and you wreck those things in no time at all, even Deviljho can't hope to keep his tail out of your reach when you're heli-drilling into the side of it 24 / 7!

But...but...you're literally a spinning drilling helicopter with a huge jump attack and aerial dash! You just hop into the air, glide effortlessly until you are level with whatever tail you want to wreck, and then press the heavy attack button!

Bounce off, press dash to glide back to it, wait until you fall level with it and are rubbing against it, then press heavy attack again and swish! Rinse and repeat until the tail or the stamina is gone!

you're right, i just still can't into dual blades, but i'm trying..
my goto weapon is Insect Glaive. I can jump and fly and jump and fly and...

I meant your Glaive, friend! Your Glaive! It was a poor choice of words on my part, your Kinsect Glaive has two blades on it, one on either end, so I called it dual bladed, but I didn't mean to reference actual Dual Blades.

Of course when you consider the back-rake attack Dual Blades can do, it's similar to the red essence aerial attack the Glaive can do too, but I always was talking about the Glaive! The Glaive!

Dual Blades suck! Everytime I make a reply about them I have to sanitise my keyboard with rosewater lest any taint is left behind, yeesh.

I did write that i use him, but you can change the element of a kinsect from none to fire/dragon etc.
