How do you deal with Deviljho?
I must have fought this thing 15 times today and only captured/killed it maybe twice, every time we run out of faints.

What is this thing where my hunter has 1 hand on the floor and is half walking half staggering around like she's drunk?

How are you supposed to dodge the side step barge move when the monster is so enormous you cant even vault over the attack with an insect glaive let alone run out of range?

I need some advice on how to kill this dam thing.

Gunlance. Alternatively, Lance.

Fastest is cluster spam done it only 8 mins solo. Charge blade will do quite some time incase you really like the battle my fastest charge blade solo is only 14minutes utilizing every thing .

I notice when you slide attack oh jho he tends to fall or trip. When solo.

(to be clear it tempered jho)

Here you go dude this is my anti Jho set. It makes a joke out of him even tempered and it's not even fully optimized yet.

It automaticly gives you the needed 3 points in guard plus 2 points in tremor resist and 4 points in earplugs meaning you only need one gem of each. Though the point is to not get hit it also has the chance to save you from death via the bazel special ability. I'd also reccommend some anti stun gems if you have them but this should serve you well :)

Are you using it correctly? The shield on a charge blade can be charged.

Of course I'm using it correctly. I always charge it and I guard point whenever I can. There's a heavy sharpness penalty for blocking with charge blade though and a lot more of the damage goes through the block compared to lance/gunlance so I wanted to be sure it would be enough.

Did you put in a Ironwall jewel? Guard 1 is recommended if you play a heavy GP + S/AED counter playstyle. That yields a total of Guard 3 with GP and charged shield together. Jho is pretty easy with a CB. You can do 1 condensed slash and 2 SAEDs on him while exhausted and under pitfall. You can also GP through everything hes got, the transition to axe mode should be enough GP frames to save you, and tremor stomp can be GPed. Dragon breath doesnt need Guard up to be blocked, but you shouldnt worry about thst because you should be wailing on the legs. When you get pinned, flash him so you dont get comboed.

If that fails, Lance should do it.

Wait are we talking about Tempered Jho?

Don't think it takes 30min to kill a deviljho. Roughly 10min can kill with an insect glaive even faster if capture. I feel the encounter rate seems too high, been fighting it nonstop for clearing 7/8 optional missions. Can make alpha beta armor sets and still have spare to make more set.

When u see Jho... Runaway!!! ... Wait, that's the quest target. Charge!!!

but over all, the most important lesson: be patient and know that it will take 25-30 minutes and that's ok. When you get better you'll be able to do faster for now aim to complete not to speed run. Being pattient and knowing when to hit will take you far. don't rush it. if you think you can get a hit in, think twice.

Actually you are better off Eating for attack...he removes defense buffs with def down.

Been solo'ing him all day but the last 4 times he hasnt dropped anything...driving me crazy trying to get a Warrior: Sword stone...I feel like they dont even drop. (I have 67 Warrior/Hero Shardstones and only 1 Warrior:Sword)

Anyone getting a less than 50% Warrior/Hero drop rate off him?

You can use an adamant seed or armorskin to get rid of the defense down. I agree though, better to either eat for attack and not get hit, or eat for moxie and/or insurance if you figure you're going to get hit.
Well I gave it another go today and finally killed it solo.

I stuck rigidly to the ground with my insect glaive since you can't vault over any of his attacks and I just kept getting shoulder barged out of the air last night

I put an evasion jewel and a divine blessing charm into my build and swapped the palico gadget from the coral orchastra to the shield spire.

That shield spire is insane the palico never died and it taking the aggro off me gave me so much more time to attack.

I think one of the reasons I really struggled before was that I was spending so much time dodging and healing that I just couldn't get the damage in.

I also found that if you stand inbetween his legs he really stuggles to hit you which gives you a nice window to attack.

The only weapon with a shield that I've tried so far is the charge blade and that has the weakest block in the game except for the greatsword. Will it be enough?

Charge Blade actually rekts Tempered Jho if you know how to Guard Point properly lol.

As for dodge side slam, I believe trying to roll near his chest below his head wont get you hit at all.

idk dude, i beat him so savagely it was completely one sided. you're indicating your teams suck so ... you need to have an arranged match and stop pubbing.

i'd say make sure to select your arena before engaging the target more carefully - dont' fight this guy in tight quarters. if he shows up in the rotten vale for instance, disengage him in the lower/middle areas where there's not much room to move. kite him to an area with larger, more even footing, and definitely don't overcommit to attacks.

also, the promised green pickle threads are here lmao

Congrats. And yeah, the cats are amazingly sturdy, there's a guy on youtube who made a "palico pokemon build" for the hell of it, where he gives himself palico rally and wide range, buffs the cat and lets it do all the damage, anyway the video shows a cat taking a tempered teo supernova for maybe 1/7 of its health.

If you are using some close ranged weapon without a shield, I personally suggest to keep your position on the left front side arround his neck and the cute limbs, it is the best safe area can get touch to his weak point, and easy to go to the safe area between his legs, also, when he hit the ground with the right leg, you can roll away from the earthquake area easily.
Lance is a great weapon against him, press RT and B for several minutes and he is dead.
Or you can just make a heavy bowgun spread build, which is kinda easy to build, simple to use, and extremely effective against most monsters with big size.

That would be RageGamingVideos, it was his videos that got me interested in Monster Hunter. I did actually wonder about trying that but it would be far too cheap to do it without first killing the monster myself.
