How do you deal with Deviljho?
I must have fought this thing 15 times today and only captured/killed it maybe twice, every time we run out of faints.

What is this thing where my hunter has 1 hand on the floor and is half walking half staggering around like she's drunk?

How are you supposed to dodge the side step barge move when the monster is so enormous you cant even vault over the attack with an insect glaive let alone run out of range?

I need some advice on how to kill this dam thing.

If you see him raise a leg, roll away. Or get Tremor Resistance.

If you see him getting ready to side slam, roll to the side, or roll forward through him. Going backwards or above is pointless.

It's more effective to generally roll towards Jho when he's doing attacks to go past him, than to roll or run back. Seems counter intuitive, but honestly it's more effective than you'd think.
A shield is all you need.

The only weapon with a shield that I've tried so far is the charge blade and that has the weakest block in the game except for the greatsword. Will it be enough?

I mean a shield with a poke stick on top of it.

Charge Blade has such a good block though.
Are you using it correctly? The shield on a charge blade can be charged.

Of course I'm using it correctly. I always charge it and I guard point whenever I can. There's a heavy sharpness penalty for blocking with charge blade though and a lot more of the damage goes through the block compared to lance/gunlance so I wanted to be sure it would be enough.

Just keep hitting it.

The problem is not hitting the monster, the problem is not getting hit in return.

the secret is to work your way up to it instead of jumping right in at HR 14.

do you have a tier 6/7/8 weapon? do you have 2 max rank attack skills? this is why it takes you 30minutes to hunt a baddie like deviljho and why you end up needing many more healing items, because you cant stagger it and because you cant deal meaningful damage when its up and about.

why is your weapon sheathed? why are you running away from its basic attack pattern? thats literally a waste of time, its dodge and attack or you're wrong (unless you're healing to NOT cart, thats infinitely more useful.... but you running across the room and dragging the boss away from your 3 alive and competent teammates is the reason why the hunt is taking so long to the point where they too eventually die, because now noone is hitting the monster)

go beat xeno, go beat 2x tempered beetlejuice, go SOLO tempered kirin at 49. at that point you are ready for deviljho.

if you're still having trouble then you should outright make a new character and unplug your wifi/ethernet and solo your way back to deviljho, i promise he wont be a problem by that point.

Tempered Kirin was a walk in the park compared to this.

My current build https://imgur.com/a/HkLGE2B

"!It's dodge and attack or you're wrong" How am I supposed to do that when it's attacks take up such a large area? When it does that sideways shoulder barge I doubt even evade extender would take you far enough. The only time I run away is to get some space to use items. My teammates are dieing considerably more often than me. I've had about 2 competent people in all my attempts so far. The time we did succeed had a guy with a wide range build using life powder all the way through whenever someone needed saving. I didn't come here to complain about teammates, I can't control what they do, I came for some advice on what I should do.

Handicraft is useless for catastrophe's light since its sharpness bar is full, and you don't need fire resist for Jho, so swap out those skills for something else (tremor resist and earplugs make Jho significantly less annoying and can give you more openings, if you can fit them in.) Practie learning his tells for different attacks, for example as a fellow IG user, if you see him start winding up for his "I'm going to spin around and turn my entire tail into a giant hitbox" don't bother trying to vault because he's pretty much guaranteed to knock you out of the air. And there are times when it's better to evade towards him instead of away, because some attacks you can roll under his legs and he'll keep going right past you, giving you an opportunity to attack.

Don't try to evade away from him, whenever you can, run/roll between his legs.
