2. Depends on how good you are in the game. Defender/guardian gear allows you to skip most of the grind in base game, if not all of it.
3. Those are investigations, they are quests that provide more rewards based on the risk you're taking, in this case less faints. You cannot combine them though.
There are normal quests that do not have these features like optional/event/assigned/special quests.
4. Seliana has everything you need, gotta get to Iceborne though.
5. Multiplayer is based on download region. MH games live for quite some time, there is still an active playerbase on older titles. Expect to find most of the playerbase in endgame though.
6. Already mentioned it above, no alternatives in iceborne unfortunately.
7. They increase your "research level" allowing you to see the monster in the map instantly depending on your progress. If you memorize their pathing, you can go there instead of gathering tracks to find them. They also unlock the possible rewards you can get from said monster in Hunter's notes, as well as tips on fighting them.
You can ignore the researcher if you want to, it's completely optional. You should only visit him to update the Hunter's notes or if you have a quest on him.
I personally don't recommend you to speedrun the game, that's not an ideal thing to do if you ask me. Even if you don't have as much time as before, you still want to enjoy the game as much as possible. No, i am not saying you should do every single quest, but try to enjoy the game instead of rushing through it. Make your moneys worth.
There is also skippable cutscenes through modding if you're interested. Maybe it can help you out a bit.
About the base design, you can choose to return to the assembly area instead of Astera. It combines quest counter, item box and dining area, it is also near a lift so you can access smithy faster. There're also mods that move some essential NPC to that area if you need.
If you want to speedrun an MH games maybe play Rise. You can finish village quests under 10 hours, and hub quests under about 50 hours if you don't bother grinding too much different stuff while progressing.
Still, I recommend not to rush this game as you might miss some of its beauty.

2. use all item shop cheat/mod to unlock instantly fatalis armor or go with the defender gear, artemis gear isn't available anymore for iceborne but every other armor will do the job too if you are half way used to the mh mechanics
Or is this stuff aviable for all people on MHW via free DLC or download? Preferably also as singleplayer?
Pretty sure the capcom collabs won't be removed, but the other ones might in a future date. The MH movie event and the AC one are already gone, leaving FF, Witcher, Horizon and others.
You already have them available when you download the game, and you can access them through event quests. No DLCs required other than Iceborne.
Everything except Behemoth and Ancient Leshen can be done comfortably solo, assuming we are talking about the collabs. Most of the game is scaled for solo play so don't worry too much.
Btw i reached endgame and now free roaming the guilding lands for thx for the tips. Now struggling with fatalis x_x
PS: This thread is from april, idk why people now try to spam here after 3 months x_x
PS2: This weird event & forced online features from capcom is still a crappy system, wanted to emphasis that :p
Other solo games like RE7 VR edition ( capcom title done right ) work flawlessly and u don't need online crap there. Spooky in virtual reality xD
Btw rumor has it that capcom is working on a remaster of RE4 in virtual reality for PSVR2 and also on a RE8 VR edition so cool :D
