I break Alatreon Horns and Escaton keeps killing me

I have 200 health, 30 fire resistance, i break the horn in Dragon Active, i eat the Jerky and even attempt to eat a second one, the Escaton keeps killing me anyways, what am i doing wrong

Are you getting the topple? The horns only prevents him from changing elements.

What topple, what I understood is that you had to break his horns

So, let me explain how it works then.

In order to survive Escaton, you have to get an elemental topple on Alatreon at least once. In order to do that you need elemental weapons, the NPCs even annoy you with it when you get in. Bring Ice element since he starts the quest with Fire mode. He can only change elements if you don't manage to break his horns.

So what you gotta do is be aggressive in the fight while using Ice weapons like i mentioned, as well as breaking the horns in dragon mode so he doesn't change to Ice element, turning your weapon useless against him.

You only need ONE topple to survive it, you already know how to heal through it effectively based on your post.

TL;DR You need both the topple and horn breaks in order to complete the quest. At least the topple is easy if you do what i said. Especially solo.

OR, you can yolo it with raw weapons and only die to escaton. That's an option too, but you're gonna die anyways, unless you're a speedrunner.

Oh, didn't know about that topple, yeah i'm already using an ice weapon. Does it matter where I hit to reach the topple?

If you're struggling to get it, it kinda does. I recommend either his Arms or Legs. They take the most elemental damage out of the other parts.

fun has only discribed the normal procedure.
you can also simply cheese through the fight with foodbuff safeguard and use your normal best dps build in sp. he should be dead after 3rd judgement. don't miss to use fortify in your build if you are already carting all the time.

kitty with decoy and wildspire shield is best friend of every range hunter
easiest cheese in multiplayer as always hbg pierce 3 usage.

Go to the guiding lands and max upgrade a dragon weapon, ignore the horns, tenderize, put the Fortify decoration into your gear if you have it.

Dragon is godawful. Don't listen to them. The HZVs are so bad you might as well go raw.

Maybe actually learn the fight before you start spreading nonsense. The only good thing about your post is fortify.

I have no choice, he keeps staying in ice/fire mode when I use those weapons against him and rarely switches, is he programmed that way? I bring an ice elemental weapon and 90% of the fight he stays in ice active mode.

I believe i already mentioned how the fight works in post #3. He is programmed to change elements if you don't break his horns, yes. If you do break it, he won't change.

Once you complete his special assignment, you'll be able to hunt alatreon through an event quest. However, the quests rotate each day and you can get either the one where he starts with Ice mode, or the one where he starts with Fire Mode. He will always start with Fire Mode in Special assignments though.

Assuming you've killed it, you might be trying the quest where he is starts with Ice Mode "Dawn of the Death Star", if that's not the case you might be doing something wrong in the fight.

But for the love of god, just use Ice or Fire depending on the quest. Don't embarrass yourself by using Dragon. Just use raw if you're not willing to use elemental weapons. I am not responsible for your suicidal attempts while ignoring the mechanics. Unless you're speedrunning Alatreon, which i doubt you will.

Huh? They are not. They have extremely low hp values. Alatreon also have plenty of openings for you to hit his head enough times for a break.

You may double check those graphs of yours. Water/Thunder are decent at best, not better than Ice and Fire.

If you don't plan on breaking the horns then water/thunder will be slightly better since it can still deal elemental damage in both fire/ice mode. Though if someone can't even break the crispy horns, they probably can't get enough elemental damage for a topple using the non-optimum elemental matchups. Better try their best surviving to the next judgement and deal as much damage as possible so that it's worth the cart.
