Monster Hunter: World
Rank Iceborne's standard Elders, easiest to hardest.
This is all coming from a Gunner main so that might skew my rankings a lot.

1) Namielle—joke of an Elder. Looks cool though. Tenderize the wings and spam Pierce ammo into them for massive, easy damage. It just spits water and falls over in less than 10 min.

2) Ruiner Nerg—for all the hype around it, and locking it behind MR 100, this thing is piss easy with Pierce ammo. Tenderize wings and head and just spam Pierce into it. Ruiner Nerg seems to flinch like crazy and has long ass recovery time from its moves. Kill him in 6 min in Ode to Destruction solo.

3) Blackveil Hazak—Miasma res 3 to not bother with the annoying debuff. Blackveil is just...slow. It almost never combos you which means you'll always have time to heal and never cart. The only dangerous move is the sweeping fart beam. I've maybe carted to Blackveil one single time back when I first fought it.

4) Kushla Daora—Kush almost never gets a cart on me, but it is easily the most annoying Elder. Its wind armor will negate shots, it flies a lot and having tornadoes take up space is bothersome. Just a long, unfun fight but not really hard.

5) Velkhana—Another somewhat annoying fight what with the ice walls and falling ice chunks. Takes a lot less time to go down than Kush at least. The sweeping icebeams and rapid fire icebeams are the most dangerous moves. Tempered Velk can damn near 1-shot with those.

6) Teostra—Day of Ruin. So many Days of Ruin. Tempered toaster can 2-shot you with most of its moves (gunner defense penalty sucks) and afflict you with fire and blast blights which are annoying. Not hard anymore due to tons of experience fighting it but if you get complacent it can wreak your day.

7) Lunastra—Not really a surprise, eh? The nova has carted me more than one that is for sure. The blue fire hurts and gets everywhere. She is basically a powered up toaster and a real threat at times.

If we want to toss in Savage Jho he goes between Kush and Velk. If we include Rajang then he is the hardest for sure. Stygian goes between Teo and Luna. The metal Raths between Hazak and Kush.

I realise I forgot Kirin too. Master Rank Kirin has so far been the most fun elder dragon fight for me as a greatsword user. Tenderising the body makes a world of difference, and the constant dance between lightning strikes and punishing any openings Kirin leaves really keeps you on your toes. No gimmicks. Just plain reading the battle and responding. It's a completely different story with the bow. I thought it would be more difficult with the greatsword, but I was pleasantly surprised at how things turned out.

If we're including non elder dragons now, Savage Deviljho wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The only move I really have to watch out for when I'm standing where I want to be is its stomp.

I recently had my first encounter with Rajang, and it wasn't pretty. I thought there wasn't a faster monster than Nargacuga. Rajang has the troublesome quality of being fast, comboey, and dealing high damage—plus it has a pin move. I had some difficulties getting hits on it while avoiding taking damage. I'm sure it'll get better with practice, but it seems pretty insane right now.

Bonus: Savagejho goes between Teo and Namielle (MUCH more openings than base Jho), Rajang below Lunastra, Stygian between Vaal and Teo. Metal Raths are above where Savagejho would be.
So you think Lunastra is harder than Rajang eh? Some say Furious Rajang is easier than normal, do you agree? All I know is that "Mew are Number One" currently holds the record for most of my carts. My first solo kill of "Mew are Number One" was not a pretty fight. [/quote]

Yeah, Rajang gets easier with time and practice. Luna is consistently a ♥♥♥♥♥ because sh*tzones don't go away and trying to hit head or wings with her moves is pain.

Furious Rajang is easier than Rajang, BUT Tempered Furious Rajang is harder than Tempered Rajang, in my view.

Also I put Kirin as slightly easier than Velkhana. Once you get used to his moves he is very easy if you don't get greedy.

Yeah, Rajang goes literally ape on your ass. Constantly moving and attacking, does massive damage...he is proof that size does not always equal power in Monster Hunter.

According to Monster Hunter lore, a monster gets classified as an "Elder" when it poses a major threat to the ecosystem. Namielle can cause floods, Teostra can cause major forest fires by simply walking around, Val Hazak spreads his infection all over etc.

Rajang can clap Elder dragon cheeks but he isn't classified as one because he doesn't cause any environmental disasters wherever he goes.
