When to use armor sphere ?
Hello i am wondering because i am at the beginning of Iceborne, MR1 doing optional quests, and i still haven't use sphere since I am always switching armor set, I have never felt I needed more def but I'd like to get in min/max stuff for the fun so when will I be sure an armor is worth using sphere on it ? (meaning I will still use that armor on endgame)

Whenever you want. You'll get absolutely flooded with them. I have dozens of sets and builds all fully upgraded and my armor spheres count is in the thousands. Go ahead and upgrade!

Well you also need to consider the difference between someone who is still progressing through the story and someone who has a 1.5k play time...

Sure, but my point is he can dump all his spheres now and he'll still get more quickly enough to upgrade anything new he gets.

Once you get into using the Steamworks at x10 fuel, you'll be drowning in Armorspheres.

Only people trying to make every armor set int the game and upgrade them will ever be hurting for armor spheres thanks to Steamworks.

Thanks for your answers, i carried on the story to get access to this event that give me the scarf with double kadachi.

I still haven't use armor sphere, at this point I have decided I won't use it unless I have defense or HP problem and I can't think of a better gear for a specific monster(I always progressed through the game farming the armor i need for a fight i struggle and it always did the job, and it's more fun thinknig strat and stat than just Brr more Def.).

It's my first monster hunter, was a bit scared to start Iceborne so I farmed quite a bit tempered eleder and monster, did every optional quest in HR and a lots of event etc..., so when it comes to Iceborne progression/gap, my guess here, is Iceborne is far easier than what you can read on internet ; I am an average main LS player and get hit quite lot by monster and never got as scared as I did fightning temp Kirin, diablos or black diablos, and Damage wise I play with a Magda Sword, fight takes about 10mn (Kadachi maybe 15 because I am bad at following its pattern, I am sure i can do better still using my HR sword).

This said I think if you can read all over internet that with the Iceborne gap, monster 2 shots you, or take too long to hunt it's either because thay had a big brake between world and Iceborne and they need to get back into it, or they went to quickly through world (I recon using Clutch claw since the beginning might have been a very neat help since I played MHWORLD at Iceborne release) so they're not famailiar with the bazillions options to turn the fight in your favor. Or maybe Capcom balance the Iceborne expansion inbetween, like they did with tenderize duration which get longer.

TLDR : The gap/progression between World and Iceborne is perfectly fine to me (First Monster hunter, 130 hours in HR, no big damage taken from monster, hunts end in about 10mn)

A lot of time is that base game players also hold onto their old HR armor because it's packed with good offensive skills, while early MR gear has far superior defense and survival skills, but may struggle to get/retain the offensive ones that players loved. Missing out on all of that defense is what really hurts those moving up into Iceborne, and usually Barioth is the one to make them finally say "Ok, I guess it's time to update my gear".

Altough i use my HR armor on beatodus which was not a threat, just after the fight when I saw the jump in defense (it's more than doubling), I can't see any offensive stat that come close to that, these people just didn't play the progression part of the game, to each one his own rythm (I like farm optional quest before carrying on the adventure) but ignoring gear and craft in this game is a big mistake, funny they forget how they get their ass up to Iceborne.

Also note that you're fighting the very first monsters of the expansion. It's meant to be a smooth, manageable transition. You did the same thing when going from low to high rank, where your first fights were Pukei and Anjanath; not very tough but they were the next rank up. Beotodus and Banbaro are the first step meant to get you used to the new area without challenging you too much, which can allow you to farm them for a decent first set of armor (as well as other easy fights like Great Jagras or Kulu).

And while it's different for everyone, there eventually comes a far tougher fight that should pose at least some challenge, like how Pink Rathian usually did in high rank, or how Barioth usually does in master rank.

I am pretty sure a big challenge is awaiting me sooner than I think, my 2 hardest hunt were Kirin in LR (I destroyed the temp version in HR on one go because I spent so much time carting on the LR version) and Tempered black diablos (I doin't do MP so I didn't bother with Behemoth) ; but I had read that as soon as I start Iceborn I ll get my ass kicked and hunt will last forever, that's not the case at all, progression is smooth.
