Does anyone bother using anything other that Vigorwasp Spray?
When I was playing on the console a couple years ago, it's all ever ran on my Palico. I was always interested in some of the other abilities, but I never wanted to sacrifice my ability to receive emergency heals when I needed them most.

Are there situations where you've ditched Vigorwasp Spray in favor of another palico kit?

Yes, Coral Orchestra is pretty good, i actually haven't used Vigorwasp in ages lol.

Vigorwasp is nice when you're feeling lazy. Plunderblade and coral orchestra are probably the best all around, though.

Coral Orchestra, buffs all day, dont need anything else.

(Did use plunderblade when farming fatalis though)

I actually like spamming the firefly cage + thunder trap + bomb trap, it gives so much map control to land some heavy hits, and makes u specially safe when going bow / bowgun

After leveling all them up, i can say that they are all interesting, but Vigorwasp is the only one that really feels like is worth it.

Coral Orchestra is probably the best. It's like having a personal HH user without the corner hornering though. Not to mention it buffs a second player and their cat too. I usually use the Cocktail though. When your cat sits under a monster with his sparkly fountain. Glorious.

Vigorwasp is more for early game before you get your augments. Once you get health augment it is less useful.

It's been a while. Can you run multiple kits on your Palico eventually? Or are you always relegated to one?

Iceborne added more features to all of the palico tools. Like the chance to auto-resurrect you if you get carted on vigorwasp.

That's probably what Zoe is talking about.

Thats right, when u reach gadget lvl 15 u get a third skill for that tool, for example firefly bugs are put automatically by your palico until reaching lvl 5, at 5 u gain the ability to order the firefly but the palico will keep doing it by himself without altering your cooldown, this same happens at lvl 10 for a paralysis trap and lvl 15 for a bomb trap. So you end up having a ton of traps with relative low cooldown that can stun and stop the monster everytime they proc.

Coral orchestra for buffs and interrupts with the gong. Plunderblade for more loot and CC application like paralyze.

Plunderblade is a great tool for farming and I use it quite often when I'm I need of a specific material to craft gear with. It has no other uses so it is a niche option.

The coral orchestra is really good to have as it continously buffs you and your teammates and if leveled enough it can momentarily stun the monster as well. The stun is a bit of a double edged sword though as it can cost you a window of opportunity if your palico times it wrong. This is still one of the best if not the best palico tool overal though.

The shieldspire is my personal favorite and the best tool in my opinion. If this gadget is leveled sufficiently then the monster will focus your palico incredibly often and this can offer huge amounts of free damage while the monster wails on your palico. The shieldspire stooge especially is a game changer and it is what makes this gadget so incredibly strong in my opinion. This palico gadget proved it's worth when I fought Fatalis and Alatreon. Don't overlook this one!

The meowlotov cocktail is another really strong offensive option and once you unlock meowcano it is actually capable of dealing a lot of damage to the monster. It sacrifices defense for raw damage and it is a great boon if you need more DPS. Your palico will not assist you defensively so make sure that youre aware of this drawback. I still highly recommend this one as it's DPS is quite high.

The flashfly cage is the worst gadget in my opinion. It can deal damage to the monster and stun the monster but the monster eventually becomes immune to the shock traps and this gadget actually makes it harder to capture monsters. Your palico also tends to use the gadget at inopportune times which can cause problems. It's a niche gadget but it has it's uses. I personally rarely if ever use it.

Vigorwasp spray is nice to have but you can live without the extra healing. Think of it as your safety net while youre still learning your weapon and the movesets of all the monsters. The revive has a really long animation and you can potentially kart inmediately after getting back on your feet so it doesn't always work. This is the safe option but there are better gadgets out there once you've mastered the fundamentals.

I hope that this helps you choose a suitable palico gadget! Happy hunting! :mhwgood:

Meowlotov for extra damage against Fatalis

Otherwise Coral Orchestra and Plunderblade for everything already mentioned.

I'd use the orchestra more if it weren't for the annoying sonicgong, it ruins the gadget imo.

Coral orchestra and meowlotov cocktail are really good, I personally prefer them over vigor spray. Plunderblade is amazing for farming parts and zenny.

Coral orchestra is amazing
Plunderblade is good for material farming
Flashfly Cage is good when farming guiding Lands as it count as trapping monsters so bonus exp.
Stoge is great untill you want to bait Cones from fatalis
