Are there spiders in the game?
Hello there.

I'm quite interested in Monster Hunter World, but being arachnophobic, well... I'd like to know if the game is safe regarding that. I can't bring myself to just type "monster hunter world spider" on Google, I would probably be freaked out instantly. If they're small (like real life spiders I guess) I don't really care, but if they're giant, no way.

Thanks!

...ya ain't gonna like the future MH games then.
But no, world doesn't have any spiders cept the small ones
No, there are no big spider monsters in World, maybe very small spiders, but I've only seen some very seldom if I remember rightly.
Alright, thanks a lot. I actually never played any MH game, so that's not really an issue. Guess I'll stick with this one then!
There are spiders but they are an endemic creatures which can be found in multiple locales. These spiders aren't the same as the monsters that you fight and they can be caught for to boost your research points but not much else. They do not alter the gameplay in any way.

I'll list their names here so that you can look for images of them if you wish.
They are not very big and they are based on real animals. None of the large monsters are based on insects or spiders.
Theyre called Vaporonid and Scavantula.

I hope that this answers your question!
In my opinion Monster Hunter World should be perfectly playable for someone with severe arachnophobia. :mhwgood:
Only relatively small ones, that you most likely won't even notice unless you are told where they are. Might be actually one of few MH games without any spider-like monsters, so you're in luck. :P
hello there fellow arachnophobic.

some spiders are in the game as endemic life, wich are basically small non monsters creatures you can capture with a net and they don't do much. there are 2 big spider monsters in the series (including one in the next game) but not in World, and even then they don't look too spidery. as an arachnophobic myself, i can tell you have nothing to worry about.

edit:
the first spider monsters is Nerscylla: https://monsterhunter.fandom.com/wiki/Nerscylla
ths monster appeared in MH4, 4Ultimate and Generations Ultimate. she isn't in World and as far as we know not in the next game.

the second will appear in the upcoming game and is named Rakna-Kadaki: https://monsterhunter.fandom.com/wiki/Rakna-Kadaki

slightly better look at Rakan because the wiki page dosen't show it too well: https://twitter.com/MH_Rise_JP/status/1365486008783958020
Just spiders in webs near areas you gather spider's web for in MHW, and they don't interact with you in any way beyond running when you ruin their web by walking through it and being capturable with the net. You'll have to grab some spider web at some point because you combine that with ivy to make pitfall traps, but eventually when you unlock botanical research you can just "grow" more spider web if you don't want to keep doing even that.
how can you be afraid of spiders in a video game? they arent real... arachnophobia is being scared of real spiders
