Is expedition boss will be more hard to kill?
Actually capturing may even give a bit more.
Expeditions are when you simply go out into the map free-roam style. The monster is not guaranteed to be there (but they are listed when you look at the map), and they will leave the locale after they have been on the map long enough.
Optional and Event quests guarantee specific monster spawns, and they won't leave the locale. Event quests may contain additional changes to the hunt, such as unique monster sizes, or various additional rewards which may or may not involve monster materials. Check event info for details.
Investigations are acquired by gathering tracks and breaking monster parts. You can register specific investigations at the Resource Center, and then launch them at the quest board like any other hunt. These guarantee specific monster spawns that won't leave the locale, but also offer additional rewards based on the bronze/silver/gold boxes you see in their listing. These additional rewards are always monster parts, making investigations the ideal method of acquiring materials in almost all situations.
(There are also purple boxes which offer different rewards, but is not relevant to this specific topic)
Expedition isn't recommended. While you get unlimited faints, you have to kill the same monster so many times because it has no reward screen for that monster.
Capturing a monster is better, period. It's not like previous MH titles.
