First Time Kulve Taroth
So I just got MHW a few weeks ago (I know, I'm way late to the party) and have now soloed my way through the story quests. I just got the KT quest today. I've read this was designed as a 16-player raid, is that still the case or is this one of the fights that's been downscaled for fewer players/soloing? Either way, I'd be happy for some veterans to join and show this newb how it's done. I'll probably try it tomorrow around 7am-ish Eastern US time - which I believe is noon UTC? I've yet to do multiplayer, is there anything in particular other players would need to find me and join the raid? My character's name is Cirigan. Also I don't have voice chat and I don't yet have Iceborne, in case that matters in any way.

Just search for a session with Kulve Taroth as the target and join a siege through the Gathering Hub.

What Liz said. While there is solo/duo scaling now for the siege, it takes an ungodly amount of time solo in order to get what you need from Kulve.
The rng for the weapons, for example, is horrendously bad.

Thanks, I figured I'd be unwelcome as someone unfamiliar with the fight and low-geared to boot. I got the impression that a lot of hunters who multiplayer are all about their efficiency and hunt times, impatient if you cart, etc. Would be delighted to find out I was wrong. But then also I wanted to give people that know what they're doing a chance at the quest since I have it - not knowing if it was rare to find a session with it.

You should be fine when joining a session, I've yet to have a bad experience when joining a seige, even when I was not fully prepared for it.
Any time any of the seiges become available, there's always at least a handful of sessions you can join.
A thing to note is that there will most likely be quite a few end-game HR and MR players in a session, so the seige will go by quickly, allowing you to get what you need fast.
(well, if weapon rng is in your favor, at least)

There is worse grinding in the game especially when it comes to decos or crowns hunt for achievements.

got literally all kjarr weapons with less than 30 kulve kills, the mr melding option made it so much easier

@op the siege should be still 4p scaling, with hr gear you need maybe two runs to break the horn but people also already managed to solo p1 run and now with mr gear it is easier and you also have the mr event quest, which scales to 1player.

Don't get that impression. 90% of players you meet online and in sieges have no clue what they're doing. You're more likely to find someone willing to help than get yelled at. Online in this game is extremely casual.

Kulve taroth isn't so bad, mostly just frustrating with randoms. Particularly insect glaive players that waste the mount in phase 1 or 2 and spam aerial on a monster with 0 breakable parts up high other than its horns, which you can't really juggle spam anyway.

@Heza you weren't kidding about it taking too long to solo...I kept going back for about 3 hours and never completed the quest, although I did accumulate quite a few scales and other bits. I tried to join an existing Kulve group, but every session I found was the MR version, which I couldn't join. I suppose it's to be expected, that everyone else is way beyond the mere high rank KT and not interested in running it.

People still do the HR version, it's just hard to find a lobby since you can't explicitly set the preferences to High Rank or Master Rank. You also might have to change your download region just for this on PC.
Alternatively if you know a really good hammer or greatsword player, one of the easiest ways to do kulve in HR is to basically be their support slave and grind out the pursuit level-- bring something like the legiana bow and slot in paralysis coating or a bowgun that supports rapid fire thunder and/or ice, and sleep and/or paralysis ammo. Bring demon and lifepowder for phase 4, and when phase 4 hits you want to use sleep and paralysis then along with barrel bombs to break her horns. mix in flinch shots and a mount (a 2nd mount is extremely hard without an insect glaive on the team) to keep kulve from doing too many dangerous attacks so the greatsword/hammer player can keep doing damage to the horns while you put ammo into the head yourself, and forelegs during phase 1/2/3. It's tough but with enough coordination you can do it with 2 people even with just HR gear with this method at pursuit level 2 if you play pretty much perfectly.

So a question: what would be better to go for, the 2 top possible weapon drops from taking her down on the first attempt. Or grinding out the pursuit and reward tiers?
im happy to help bully kulve with you if you send me a friend req or post the session id or something next time you attempt it

i feel like it would be more efficient to join a full session and go for as many rewards as possible? there are better weapons at higher levels too right? and afterwards you can use whatever spare stuff you got to meld more? idk i only ever did it for funsies

I find it more efficient to do the MR KT event quest actually. You get more bang for your buck melding for kjarr weapons since KT siege has some of the lower rank weapons mixed in your rewards. And anyway, you won't really need most of KT's mats if you're farming for specific weapons anyway so just use them as meld fodder. MT KT is also faster as long as you can find a group of randoms who you can kill her with in one run.

Personally, I can't get into the Kurwa Taroth siege for like 3+ days now. Never been there, don't have any of those weapons. And looks like never will xD

While on this topic, what weapons a considered "end-game" today? I stopped playing MHW about a year ago, prior to Safi release. Just checked her weapons' stats - a lance with only 90 elem dmg? Wha? Rank 12 weapons like Ishvalda's have ~500+ elem dmg. What's the catch? =)

What's the catch? You're comparing what would be considered High Rank weapons with Master Rank weapons.
You can also upgrade KT weapons with KT materials.
