Light Bowgun
I want to love it but aside from monsters with very effective elemental weakness, it's pretty weak in terms of ammo count. Low damage? I don't mind but once you run out of ammo its really annoying. I'm not talking about shooting for 15 minutes, its more like 8 minutes and that's shooting rather careful and selective.

In comparison to say, heavy bowgun and spread 3 which I've fought tempered kirin for 20 minutes and I could probably continue shooting for 10 more minutes before running out and going back to camp.

I love sticky ammo, that sweet K.O. on that flying lizard is incredibly satisfying but the damage and ammo count is low meaning it's more of a support weapon, not a damage dealer. I mostly play with newbies doing assigned quest so playing with low count and low damage would get them kill more often since the fight takes longer to finish (compared to heavy bowgun and spread 3).

I wish you can carry more than say, 10 thunderbug or 20 snow herb. It's downright ridiculous compared to the amount of ammo you can craft for spread 3. At least make it so when you craft you get more, I mean MUCH MORE. It's of 6 thunder ammo per thunderbug, make it 12, 3 freeze ammo per snow herb, make it 6.

You tone the damage because it's mobile, I call it fair. You tone down the ammo from crafting too? That's just beating them (light bowgun) while it's already dead. Rip light bowgun (except for KT, it's pretty good!).

I don't play light bow gun, but the solution to low ammo seems (to me) to just be a farcaster...

Teleport back to camp, and stop in at the tent to re-fill your ammo from your item box.

That, and carry more materials to craft in the field.

hav you got the taroth blitz shot normal ammo rapid 2? that weapon is too op in term of dmg.
i kill temperet anjanath with less than 20 ammo, feel like using cluster when all you need is 15 ish ammo and good rng

Bows have magical arrows. Slaying Tempered Kirin under 4 minutes with anja bow was fun for a while but I felt kinda bad dealing ridiculous damage from afar. Thankfully I got bored really fast with bows.

I am a light bowgun user and i'm offended you say it's bad . Myabe you don't know whow to play it but personally I bear Normal kirin in 3min and Temptered kirin in 7min using the Light bowgun(slice/sticky)
you can beat every monsters in 3min if you're a pro except KT/magdaros and Xeno jiva
I beat them in 5min
spread is meant to be used for the head so you have to aim the head all the time .
the builds are different . I have many bowgun build for each monsters
Pierce for Temptered Bazel,Vaal Hazak
Spread for Temptered Teostra,Nergigante
Slice for Temptered Kirin
I use the Live damage Meter when I play online,I am mostly the 1st or 2nd best dps in the party just using bowguns . the others time where I am 3rd or 4th is because I play support, because at the first place lbg are not just damage and mobility but it's also a status weapon, great for save teamates and be a good support can save lives and carry your team

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you here, but both types of bowgun use the same ammo - it's crafted the same way in the same quantities.

I say the ammo count is bad (specifically the amount you get when you craft AND the amount of material to craft ammo you can carry). Both pretty poor compared to spread 3. Damage is ok, not as good as bow or heavy bowgun (spread 3) but it's a good tradeoff for the mobility.

Normal ammo I have no problem since you get plenty of material, only elemental ones I have issue with. Damage is pretty ok but then why not just use bow, higher damage, infinite ammo thus no need to craft.

Guess light bowgun is destined to collect dust, only for the occasional KT quest or maybe you like to see kushala in pain from smacking his stupid head on the ground, over and over again with sticky ammo.

Depend what kind of bowgun you use,I mean I never had issues with the ammos . if you do the KT quest in a party you bring 60 thunder ammo when you craft more it's another 60 so 120 ammo in total, but you can use different ammos too like Normal ammo 2 even if that bowgun is not the best for RF N2

I began to appreciate LBG when KT event came in. I thought that bow and lbg both are poor man`s HBG. I was wrong. Certan builds with lbg and bow A LOT more effective then any of HBGs vs certain monsters. My first blind encounter with KT was with HBG and some random dude just decimated her with LBG. I was confused at first but decided to try to experiment with that weapon. As a result i could deal more and a lot more consistent damage to her with Lightning Blitz III elemental build (and a rapid thunder ammo) and even more with KT Blitz "Pierce" lbg. And then Arrow "Thunder" and Legiana Bow is even more effective at both respective KT stages. Also i noticed that mobility of a LBG allow me to better survive vs certain monsters. Kirin is a vivid example. Considering ammo - i think i rarely run out of thunder ammo vs KT as i have 60 Thunder and can craft even more with spare materials to craft. + 8 bombs + Wyvern blast traps in conjunction more then enough damage to release her. If not - i simply use Farcaster to replenish ammo or change weapon for thr final stage.

I just have ammo craft in the hotkey and pack the materials with the item loadout. Very rarely do I chew through 120 rounds, and when I do, I've done over half the damage of the rest of the team put together...

Can't say I've ever been worried about running out tho... It's just they style of the weapon

Yeah KT is the only exception for elemental light bowgun, it's just too good to not use. High damage, high mobility, it's just too good. Yeah you could use normal ammo, fair enough.

If you have good aim then I doubt you'd run out of ammo. Me? I suck. Well I guess I'll stick to the idiot proof weapon, heavy bowgun spread 3 to the monster's face. Can't miss at point blank right?

elemental ammo for type for any bowgun is bad, light or heavy. only certain monster is good when using elemental ammo.
both diablos and kulve, thats abt it.

after passing through most of the past chapters with GS this time ive gone through the entire game only with LBG, it was fun and still is. with the fps mod most of the times im first or second. it happens quite rarely to end up without good ammos, perhaps on quests with multiple objective, but only baboons dont bring materials to craft and farcaster.
Seamus Nov 18, 2018 @ 7:11am
Go back to camp and restock. Problem solved.

Nah, i'm spoiled with heavy bowgun and spread 3. I never needed to farcast to camp because I never ran out of ammo. Oh crap, no Capcom, don't do it. Please, don't nerf my spread 3.

and you're wrong ... Both Lbg and HBG are good , the only thing u can't do with HBG is Rapid fire elemental . but for the rest yeah you can mak mistakes . I used to hate Lbg I mean I played dual blade and long sword a lot but now I only do LBG/Hbg sometimes because it's the best weapon ever . I love it . Almost 500 games with Lbg and 400 only for dual blade,I regret using Dual blade
