Anyway Light Bow Gun(LBG) has .. REALLY LOW damage... Like.... OMG ITS LOW damage...
Switch weapons
OR..... Do elemental attacks.. Like poison.. Or sleep then barrel bomb the ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Always use Wyvern Bomb trap thing.
Apparently Its a thing that LBG has low Raw damage but high Elemental Damage
(tho i don't know the math on that since... last i remember it was all based on Motion Value.. Aka the longer your Attack animation took the more raw damage...... And elemental just didn't have Motion Value... Every weapon just had its own Elemental Value , meaning every move did same flat damage..... Uh... If you wanna you can deep dive into it.)
There are a lot of things that could help with damage, for example Critical Distance, its not explained in game and is a common cause for newer players thinking ranged is bad.
When aiming the reticle will change depending on how far you are from a monster, too far and you are out of range, a little closer and the reticle will go yellow indicating you can hit the monster but it will do very low damage. Depending on the ammo you are using you can get away with this Sticky and Slicing will still do full damage if you hit at this range.
Get a little closer and the reticle will change to orange, this is critical distance and you will do proper damage. This changes again based on the ammo you are using, Normal ammo has a medium range, Piercing ammo has quite a long range and will be at critical distance from further away and Spread has the shortest range.
Ammo level also has an enormous effect on damage and you want to avoid Normal 1 at all costs if you can. The blue box at camp will have a supply of Normal 2 for you to take for free and you can craft more in the hunt with some Gunpowder 2.
Hey Bexnard, I know I'm late to the post, but if you're interested I'd love to help you out with some hunts. Might be helpful having a melee between you and your mark. I'm not super high level (HR8) and I can use some lower level gear too so it's not just overkill. Anyway, I'll shoot you a friend request, accept if you want to play sometime! :)
