Trust me; wait for Rise on PC.
Especially if you've enjoyed a lot of the quality of like improvements in MH:World -- you'll find a lot of them missing in MH:Rise. There are some nifty things, sure; but Capcom has a record when it comes to Monster Hunter games. Iceborne was kind of an odd-ball, it was basically a G-title without actually being a G-title.

Monster Hunter titles always come in two variants; Release and the later G-Variant, which serves as an overall update with upgraded monsters, more content, more weapons, etc etc. Rise will eventually get this treatment, so you might as well wait. Playing the game on the switch feels pretty clunky in the interface, but that is likely because of the 30FPS cap and muddy looking graphics. (I think I just got used to 60FPS and everything looking super crisp on my rig.)

The WEED is strong in MH:Rise as well -- very very feudal Japan; complete with water color calligraphal representations of all the monsters. Note this is not a gripe, just a warning. If you're new to the franchise, note this heavy emphasis on traditional Japanese culture is not normal to the series. I was half expected the people to break out in Monster-Jibber; basically that weird Japanese-ish jumble speak you got in many entries prior to MH:W, but nope -- it's fully voiced --- including your hunter.... including... your.... hunter.... uuuugghhhh.

Nergigante is more difficult than Magnamalo.
I'd be concern if a flagship Elder Dragon is easier than a fanged wyvern.

Qs for non-hardcore fans.

How's Rise endgame?
Is it true that the game is rather short?
Is the wirebug annoying/intrusive like the clunk claw?
You picked the wrong place to ask. Rise's endgame is so barren you can see the tumbleweeds rolling. Rampage gets boring really fast, and if you want to be efficient you'll spam nothing but the final boss because its materials are worth a lot of points.

only thing annoying about wirebug is getting used to the controls

the game is very short. village doesn't even have high rank yet. i rushed through the whole story in ~20 hours including HR. IDK how long it took me to rush World's story but it definitely feels faster as there's like 0 dialogue and cutscenes aren't long and uninteresting

as for endgame, as it stands it's mostly just about farming rampages for those rampage-exclusive monsters/mats or working towards whatever gear you want to make. there's no big end game super bosses to farm (excluding the story boss) so there's nothing to build for and no real reason to actually get that gear except for fashion or speedrunning etc

i expect they're planning on releasing a lot of updates in the future lol

Village quests won't have high rank until G-Rank expansion
yeah I was mostly comparing it to World or Tri

That's what I was afraid of as a lot of reviews mentioned it as well. The game is really short for it's price point right now. They'll need to start adding a lot of content through patches to bring it up to a reasonable level of content.
The game will probably receive a G-rank expansion too and hopefully this in combination with the patches will eventually bring it up to World's level of content.

By the time it release on PC it will hopefully have a lot more content then it does now.

how do you even known the pc port solves the issues when none of us except the developers have touched it?
Probably because a lot of the graphical issues are a result of the Switch rather than the game. Played on the native 720p screen it looks fantastic, the problem comes when you dock it to something with a higher native resolution than the 1080p offered by the Switch, as in most cases it'll simply result in upscaling the image. Even assuming they decided to leave it at the 1344×756 resolution of the Switch for the port you'd still get better results by using a graphics card to do the upscaling rather than the hardware since there's a raft of tricks the card can apply to improve the quality of the image that a simple HDMI port hasn't got access to. I'd assume however that they're likely to do more than that (I expect they'd at least want to match the fidelity of MHW) and as a result, I've little doubt the game will look fantastic on PC.

In fairness though, given the game isn't yet finished (IIRC there's a big patch expected next month which will expand on the endgame content) and we're anticipating a drip feed of DLC it's kind of a given that the PC version is likely to offer a better experience coming as it will at least a year or two down the line. Whether that means you should wait for it or not is a different question though; I intend to buy the PC version even though I already have the Switch version and expect at that point the PC is likely to become the primary platform for playing it. I'm still happy I've got it on the Switch though - it's amazing how annoyed air crew get when you start trying to set up a desktop on board the plane.

Honestly, this Graphics Griping is really really childish when you come right down to it. I'm old enough to remember when video game characters were just blobs of pixelated blocks arranged to resemble a person, you know, back in the Atari days in the 80's. Seriously...who really cares if the graphics aren't as shaded and detailed as anything on the PC? Would you rather have a glitchy, game breaking experience like Cyberpunk 2077 on the console or would you like a smooth running game with decent graphics?
Why not both? Though some games may not have great graphics, but can still be solid cause performance and gameplay. Cyberpunk looks nice, but the performance is a wtf for me.

I intend to buy pc version too. Will be interesting to compare the two. The pc port may be better or it could be a port with problems. I remain optimistic.

Even on PC the performance of Cyberpunk is not good. That game is just poorly optimised among other issues.

If I had to choose then I would prefer higher framerates over graphical fidelity. I would much rather have 60 fps with downgraded graphics then 30 fps.

It is a short title atm, yes beat it in less than 30 hrs. Main takes about 14 to 20. Sides about 4 to 6. Even the hunts are shorter. It was kinda easy tbh. Hopefully with the new monsters they are releasing like chameleon and apex rathian, things will get interesting.

I really hope we'll be able to hunt Apex monsters in normal hunts instead of at the end of Rampages. I feel like the current system is Capcom's way of wanting players to get used to Rampage, but imo the mode shouldn't be the endgame.

Who knows, we'll find out next month when the new monsters arrive :D

You guys whining about the lack of monsters...you do know that after launch they will be releasing more monsters as DLC, right?
Camelfall08 2021 年 3 月 29 日 下午 1:10
I'm probably gonna wait for the PC port just 'cause I'm broke, and my joycons drift like hell. On another note, call me a "simp" or a "smoothbrain" or whatever you spiteful little steam forums gremlins do, but I could not possibly care less if Capcom doesn't upgrade the graphics for the pc port. I just wanna play more monster hunter :)

Qs for non-hardcore fans.

How's Rise endgame?

You're endgame is the same as pre-endgame. There's no new content other than Kamura tickets for special weapons and your first High Rank armors. Unless you count the multiplayer hub missions as your end game.

Is it true that the game is rather short?

For the main story, you have four levels of low rank (just like world). You need to slay/capture 2-5 monsters and a rampage and/or boss monster in order to progress to the next "chapter". In total, including grinding for weapons, I would say the main story would last maybe 10 hours if you were not p*ssyfooting around.

Is the wirebug annoying/intrusive like the clunk claw?

Not to me, it actually allows for some pretty cool maneuvers (either offensive or defensive) when you get knocked on your butt. Most annoying thing about it to me is getting used to ZL+B'ing after getting knocked down to avoid getting stunned from repeat attacks and then returning to World where the wirebug function doesn't exist...

At this rate, I might as well wait for the PC version since my special edition switch has been delayed.
