PC Releases for Older, Pre-World Monster Hunter games
I was just curious what all of you would think about Capcom porting older Monster Hunter games from other consoles to the PC platform. Is there still a market for the classic games you think? It would be a low effort, quick way to make some cash for sure that would require very little time to churn out. And most modern computers could probably handle the sharper graphics better than the consoles they came out on. It would also give many World players that started with that game the chance to fight the monsters that World and Rise won't have. So tell me, would you buy remastered versions of the older games via Steam to play on your computer without the hassle of emulators?

I probably wouldn't, TBH. World isn't just about graphics. It's more about the quality of this gen engine. Back in the day, Diablos hitbox was a solid truck-size brick that hit anything in front of its rectangular bulldozer surface. World? If you don't get hit by the legs or the horns, you're not hit. It's just uncomparably better. Don't get me even start about Plesioth. Fatalis? Back in PS2 days, it was just insipid, sloooooowww dragon whose only signature move is a fireball that instant kill you. And THAT is the only difficulty. The entire party only Clust spammed it and that was about it. This game's Fatalis? It is the most relentless monster that has ever come out. The hitboxes are great, aside from the aerial portions. The moves come in great variety that keeps you on edge. The novas are spectacular. Its power in the lore is expressed true in the game. It's not just the graphics. It's the gameplay that drastically change and reflects the true power of the monster rather than hardware limitations.

Old games had focuses in the wrong place, like the tedium of gathering resources on all your own or walking all over the place to locate a monster. World is hard in the right place and take your focus down to solely the thrill of the hunt or as close as can be. I played this since the very first Fatalis came out 15 years ago, and I say World is probably the best MH that has ever come out. It might not be the hardest, but it's the one done most right, IMO.

Well, like I said, these would be remasters. You know...tightening up the htitboxes, improving the graphics for high def. Did you honestly read my entire post? Remasters fix the issues of the original games sometimes. Not drastically change them. I say this because seriously...I want to fight monsters like Jhen Mohran with my World pals that don't have a 3DS or WiiU, etc. etc. and won't get them, not even for new experiences. It's much harder to integrate monsters into the World/Rise aesthetic. I betcha there are more people that think like me than you realize. I mean Zorah Magdaros is a pretty boring fight in comparison to Jhen and Dahren Mohran.

Highly doubt it. People (myself included) have been begging Capcom to port MHGU for years now.

I almost lost faith back then when there were literally no news of MHGU being brought to the West even though we were asking for it. I got a Switch right when it was first announced, and a few weeks later, a new iteration of the Switch was announced :(

Fun game. 10/10 would watch people ♥♥♥♥ on it on Steam forums

I really wish Capcom got a studio like Bluepoint to remake MHFU with World's map style and combat.
Imagine Yama Tsukami with modern graphics and more then like 3 attacks.

Really hoping that their team B would do that after they're done with Rise and its expansion. They have so much source materials especially with Frontier being discontinued.

I wonder if people are gonna call them out for "abandoning" Rise too when they're done with Rise.

MH4GU could be cool cause it has some interesting stuff exclusive to that gen. Even earlier ones are not worth it IMO.

It's pretty much guaranteed. I know people here will complain about Capcom ditching Rise so soon because PC lagged for an entire year.

If you really really want to play i believe every single emulator has some form of online play, even the Switch one.

Hey you're not allowed to say the E word!
But yeah they do have 'em. Separate servers though. You can find a lot of things on GitHub.

But that's the thing....I don't want to play on an emulator. I can only handle press on a button, play a game. I can't do all this techi stuff you guys do. I'd rather buy the games from Capcom via steam.

I did read your entire post. Just because the answer wasn't exactly what you were looking for didn't mean it wasn't a legit answer. Remaster come in many levels. You didn't specify exactly what it was, just remaster. It could range from graphic remaster to something like RE1 Remaster, which is actually a whole different game, but most likely, the level of improvement I prefer would require engine overhaul like RE1 Remaster and they need almost a new game and they wouldn't do it.

nobody would ever want to play pre-world mh games. world and rise made too many needed quality of life improvements to the game.

I don't know...I started playing Freedom Unite and Monster Hunter 1 because of Monster Hunter Tri back in the day.
