Can't get interest back
Alright, let's just sum up a bit my experience. I'm mostly interested in all fighting games, and that's how I spend most of my playtime since 25 years. From time to time I like some changes tho.
I've always been interested in MH franchise, and I bought some (MHFU, MHtri, MHGU) but I've never really been hooked before MHW. I've played this game since its launch on PC

I've been playing MHW before Iceborn and killed solo every monsters and their AT versions except Extremoth. I've spent a huge amount of time getting all gold crowns without any mods, finished all optional missions, gettin all rare pets, etc. Then I had a short break before IB came out, something like 2~3 month.

So Iceborn was released with a fresh new start and I was pleased getting again that feeling of exploration in a dangerous world. After finishing story mode I focused myself getting every best gears for all my weapons (DB/Bow/CB). I think things started going "bad" with Safi meta. I farmed Safi gears, all weapons maxed out (I love that monster I could kill it endlessly), but while I wasn't really satisfied at Safi's armor gameplay I was still in a good mood. The MRKT went out and o...m...g... things were going to get worse. All Safi weapons were "useless" compared to Kjarr ones so, ok let's go farming kjarr versions - I didn't really focused myself on original KT farming during base game - Runs after runs after runs after (repeat endlessly that sentence), I was able to get all relevant Kjarr/Taroth weapons for DB/Bow/CB (minus CB ice, -_-') and I had to boost all biomes in order to fully boost these weapons. It took like forever and I was bored. Even tho I was able to boost DB/Bow to max I couldn't finish the job for CB.

Then Alatreon came out, I did the fight, quite boring and scripted imo, I didn't enjoy that monster at all. That's just personnal, I know some really enjoy that. Maybe that's just because I was bored. Then after that I stopped and finished playing in July 2020.

Nowadays I'm trying to get the hype back in order to kill Fatalis and AT Velk. I'm not seeking any help in game, I like playing solo tough fights, and multiplayers only for farming, but I'm just seeking motivation. Is the game still cool now? I've seen Fatalis armor is meta, but do you guys think that the game will still go on. Also how do people having thousands of hours still enjoy playing? I have something like 550h, and even tho I have a huge respect for that game, I'm missing some motivation, which is what I'm seeking for before in order to give it a last shot before Rise come out on PC.

Happy hunting.

You're like me. You like to answer the question of whether you can solo this monster or not. I'm the same. I always kill things solo first before I ask for help. You feel bad about the needless KT grind and maybe you think all Safi you've done has gone futile. KT wpns don't replace all Safi's. Your collection of Safi is still useful.

And you don't have to get all the Guiding Lands areas up to max. You just need to ask people. If you jump into their sessions and ask for regions level 7, ppl can donate a top tier monsters for you. I do that all the time. If I can't be bothered, I just call out a monster and then leave. Let them fight. The monster will still be there. They don't need me to finish the kill. If I run low, I can always craft a new lure. If I can't be fkd, I'll just revert my save.

But that's beside the point.

It seems like you have everything now. Solid deco collection. Solid armor set. There's only one question left to be answered, can you solo the ultimate monster in the franchise without help? To farm Fatalis to get its armor is only for when you want to linger in this game. You don't have to farm it if you don't want to, because I get it, the point of farming armor/weapon is that you want to use them on something. But there's no more monster to test your mettle against. So you only have to do one last thing. Beat Fatalis solo. You enjoy challenge, don't you? Like me. I can assure you, it's the most epic send off in the entire series. Fatalis, unlike older games, is no longer a slow insipid monster whose only power is one shotting you with every move. This reiteration is different. It is the most relentless monster ever to exist since this franchise has come out 15 years ago, thanks to the current gen engine. Watching it inhale and release its full power against your cover will blow your mind. Legend said it destroyed the Kingdom of Schrade in a single night. When you fight this thing, you'll believe it. I'm not sure if you've seen it yet, but I wish you could see Fatalis melt everything from the camp. I have that very spectacle saved for my wallpaper. If you don't mind spoilers, go watch a video of Fatalis's nova seen from camp. Do you want to LIVE that experience? I know I did. It took me three days to be able to solo it. And I tell you, it's the most satisfying experience when I kill it first time.

There's only one question, one challenge left. Are you up for it?

Think of it this way. You've done everything so far just to fight the final boss of this game, right? Well, are you just going to play the whole game only to reach the final boss and quit without seeing the ending?

In case of DB, Kjarr DB are all superior to Safi. Anyway I'm fine having both maxed out.

That's what I did first, but there are so many elements to farm to max everything for armors and weapons that I finally get to the point that I had to run expeditions myself and invite people in it. So at some point I had at once each zone to rank 7. I had a google sheet repertoring everything I need from a zone, in order not to max out twice. Getting a zone from level 3 to level 7 is finally pretty fast.

The challenge for me is much more, will I have the motivation to get my reflexes back first into the game, then beat Alatreon again to unlock Fatalis and face him. I like your description from the fight, it seems entertaining. I kinda lost some skills during the past 9 month, I'm sure I'll get it back, but I'm getting into getting those back on weaker monsters.

Haha I like that, you summed it up and that is boosting me.

Thanx guys, I'll try to think of what you've said during next runs and hope that the motivation will come out naturally. If not well... i'll be frustrated.

I think that if you aren't enjoying the game, you should stop playing it. Perhaps try new weapon types?

As for your frustrations with farming...mod it out. At this point in the game, your enjoyment is going to come from the experience of fighting monsters you enjoy fighting. Nobody has time to sit through the busted Safi stuff or the massive Kulve RNG mess; it's stupid and boring and unfun. Go to Nexus, grab a shop mod, buy them or the dracolite. I know some players don't like to do this, but I've found it's made the game far more enjoyable for me.

As for Fatty and AT Velk, I think you should at least attempt them. Both are very good fights that somebody looking for complex movesets and varied response options will enjoy.

There was no "guys." Just me, brah.

For the record, the second Alatreon you have to beat is a dumb one. It has like a third of the normal HP. It's pitiful.

Further Fatalis advertisement. It's only mildly scripted. The first time is that you watch the cutscene and understand the mechanics. After that, the scripted events won't impede your ability to kill it in anyway, unlike, say Kulve Taroth siege, which everything is locked, locked, locked, unless you reach a certain zone. It is fast, highly aggressive, and relentless. There's no moment you can rest. The time limit is tight. You must always be doing something. All CC/statuses work on it only once each and you gotta make it count. Second instance is possible but extremely difficult and not really worth trying. And it's immune to KO. You can't cheese it by constantly knocking it out. It is also quite smart. I've seen it lure players from safety then wipe the entire team. It can snipe you even if you try to run. Surprisingly, siege equipment that everyone overlooks in other quests also play significant roles. There's almost no mechanics in this game that you don't use in this fight. CAPCOM's simply amazing and went all out with this one.

My tip for you is to try AT velkhana before Fatalis. Judging by your comments you`ll stop playing for good after Fatalis, so do AT Velkhana first

There's no point in beating AT velkhana after fatalis, sure the legs are great but you won't be playing for long so why bother after you get the ridiculously OP fatalis gear...

I know how stupid it can be, but modding the game would kill the accomplishement for me. This is just a matter of enjoyement, and I have nothing against people doing it, as long as they are not using game breaking mods during my runs.

About weapons I already main DB/Bow, and sometimes CB, I was also used to play IG, SA, and HH before. I'm trying to focus on less weapons to have less things to farm. Thing is, i'm not enjoying the game anymore, but I still like that game a lot, which is very paradoxal.

I've heard about that Alatreon has been toned down, I'll give it a shot, it should be easy. I'll try to give the game the chance and see if after I've beaten Fatalis I still want to keep going, because it looks like to be a really fun fight.

Honestly I stopped just before Alatreon release so I missed all the update after that. Just lost interest. I went on and play other games.

Getting bored out with a game is fine. There's literally thousands of game to play out there there. Who knows maybe your interest will comeback when we get Rise in PC. Mine did and luckily have a switch so currently playing Rise.

I just fought Alatreon to unlock Fatalis quest. This was too easy compared to the original fight, which is a bit disappointing because it could have been a good way to have only good teams against Fatalis. I’m pretty sure Fatalis will burn me into ashes, but i’m getting some hype back.
Polaris Apr 3, 2021 @ 9:29am
Fatalis was hands down THE best hunt in the game for me, I lost quite a few times before I won, bit man, even if you don't farm the hear, beat him at least once, it's so satisfying :D

And honestly, the gear is fun, their are enough slots to out together really fun or goofy builds, as you can take all the damage skills...and still have room left over.

It's like a victory lap :D
River Victor Apr 3, 2021 @ 9:32am
Believe me, there's already a filter to allow only decent players to play Fatalis in multiplayer. The second mandatory cutscene starts only after Fatalis is at 75% HP. You must know what you're doing and deal enough dmg to get there. It's a filter so absolute nubs won't get their ass carried through the first and final boss of Monster Hunter franchise.

Let us know if you enjoy the fight. God, I hope you do. It's so good.

Yeah sure, i’ll do. I can’t wait to give it a try. Armor stats look awesome, and i’ll be able to switch from Safi to Fatty.

Getting hooked on MH is only possible if one plays it like a MH game should be played. TriU was my first MH and at first I found it way too grindy, boring and timeconsuming, I still put 400 hours into it, yet it was only after one year that I started the game up again and fought a Jade Barroth just shooting at it from a heavy bow gun or so, and I had so much fun. I felt that this is not an average game it's a hunt where your skills grow naturally over time. It was similar with MHW. The only thing that can hook one, is to put up a better fight. Grinding is also a reason but it should come in naturally, one does not need to overdo it.

Even after you will beat Fatalis, If you get into it, there is nothing stopping you from joining an SOS and give your best just to have a good time or to farm other builds and max them out just for the fun of using them.

I've been grinding a lot in that game, I always tried to stick with the best equipement I can have, which finally was boring to do updates after each updates because I have no use of previous stuff that was so long to farm.

Well that filter was pretty low, it was even easier than Alatreon cos I managed to pass it at first try without so much difficulties. I'll need to get used to the fight now however to kill it, because it's not a piece of cake. Can't tell yet how much difficult it is compared to previous fights before I get it down.
