ERR12: Graphics device crashed. I am desperate.

Hi,

It has been a week now that I am trying to deal with this crash that occurs either when I select my character or when I enter the hub (Astera or Seliana). When it happens, I get this fatal error message "ERR12: Graphics device crashed". I think I have tried everything I've found here, reddit and google. Nothing has worked and I am getting super desperate because everything was working fine till now and it kinda happened out of nowhere (I have 80 hours in). I was having so much fun and it is incredibly frustrating to not even be able to play.

A list of things I have tried:
-Updating drivers and rolling back. Including using DDU to uninstall them and perform a clean installation. I have tried every driver available.
-Underclocking with and without MSI afterburner.
-Changing the graphic settings in game, on the NVIDIA panel and using NVIDIA profile inspector. Including disabling DX12 and playing in windows/borderless/HDR off mode.
-Deleting and reinstalling the game
-Running the game as administrator
-Turning on low latency mode
and probably other things that I've tried but no success.

Got the Geforce RTX 2060 and Ryzen 5 3600.

Also, other games work fine. I am playing MH Stories 2 and it's running very well (though I doubt it is as demanding as MHW).

Can anyone help me?

Hmmmmm when is the last time you played the game fine? The game had not been updated for 2 months

Last sunday! And yes that's what confused le the most because literally nothings has been touched nor updated so the issue came a bit out of nowhere...

Hmmm maybe you can check event viewer?(you can google how to if you didn't have the technical know how) i have a feeling it's another case of a sneaky windows update

From what I gather it's from updating to the newest nvidia driver, I'm having issues with scout flies breaking and their textures going bonkers all over the screen and my game even crashed once giving me that fatal error as well but it was only once so far during fatalis fight, I've heard if you can roll back to one of the older drivers it will fix it I know there's two that cause this the latest and one other I can't remember but I'd suggest trying that

For me this was kinda weird also, played the game like 200 h and decided to try and remove fps limit (i had the fps capped at 90) and then i played some without the fps limit and it crashed like 3 times on same day. Then i switched the fps cap back to 90 and haven't crashed since (hopefully wont crash again). Don't know if that was the source of the problem but that's what happened to me. Hopefully you get to the root of this problem. Cheers!

Had this exact same issue, along with graphical bugs. Somehow, switching from DX11 to DX12 somehow fixed it for me. Haven't had a crash or any graphical bugs since. Hope this helps. And if you are already on DX12 then assume I got them switched and just do the opposite.

I have the same problem on a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 mobile, version 471.41
I tried almost everything I found in the internet and it did not help.
I dont plan to roll back my drivers that far as I also play some other games that improved with the newer versions.
If I find something that works I will write it here

I had this problem, was about to call it quits and uninstall the game. I decided to reinstall the driver and it's no longer crashing, so far so good.

Hmmmm i cant find anything specific on that event id. How far did you rollback your driver? Most people said 466.77 works well, but maybe try far earlier version instead if that doesn't work for you?

I have tried to install every driver including older ones, and it just doesn't want to work. :/

What worked for me (GTX 1650 mobile, i5 10th gen)
was deinstalling the graphics card's driver using DDU
(important! You want a clean uninstall)
and then simply reinstalling them
Since then I have played for 2 hours without crashes and graphic glitches (scout flies bugging out)
