Not much else to tell other than the obvious ones like using ammo2-rapid or ammo3, shooting at weakpoint/head, since I'm assume you know what you doing.
They seem to have huge HP bloat, but once you get to the higher tier stuff that HP bloat stops really being a thing and everything starts dying very fast again.
Like I remember fighting stuff with the "vanilla" Iceborne equipment, Narga and Viper Kadachi HBG's with Pierce 3 ammo and stuff, it was faster killing than with my Hammer but it wasn't particularly "fast" and stuff, if I recall.
Although admittedly those days were the funnest days I had in Iceborne, once the powercreep set in it started getting a little monotonous again...I know I could just NOT use the end game gear but like...bleh. Bleh!
Don't worry anyway, your hunt times will increase as time goes on for sure, especially since you've got everything laid out in front of you. Something as simple as a Health Regen augment on your weapon can change the entire way you fight, letting you be mega aggressive again and having to stop to heal so often etc. It all adds up to faster kill times.
You mention half of your gear is MR, so that may be the one reason why hunting Narga gets so tedious. There is a huge gap between HR and MR equipment, not only in terms of base stats, but also for armor skills and decorations. A decent skill set can raise DPS and/or survivability quite a bit.
Other than that, trying different weapons can help. At the time I was fighting Narge, I was maybe 40% faster with the insect glaive than with the bow. The reason? I simply could not hit the beast's weak points consistently with a bow. With the glaive, it was a fun ride, literally.
Concerning Greb's comment - yeah, that's right. Health augments are a game changer, indeed. But that's a thing at MR 100 and above.
Hope that helps - happy hunting!
my first Barioth fights were kinda like that too, what i did was just repeat the Barioth arena quest over and over till i got hang of its movements and now i can kill him a lot better.
just practice the monsters you having problem with.
and if is a gear issue you will also get mats out of it
only half of your hear is MR
you aren't using wallbangs
Against narga I was using rapid pierce 2 along with Normal 2, couple of stickys
Skills are in French so I cant really translate but I do remember having Affinity up, attack up, I think ammo up?
I am considering changing weapons for this fight.
Once you get some better decos, thats when they're useless.
Most decos you'll get at that time range from meh to okay, which I, personally, tend to use the ones with "vitality/x" skill to get in that health boost and an extra skill
What most ppl tend to utilize is:
Health boost
Critical eye
Critical boost
Tenderizer
And then from there on whatever skill they want/need for their weapon.
If youre using normal 2 rapid fire, I would suggest you also insert the deco/armor skill called normal up (iirc, thats the skill name), which is only available as a lvl3 deco
If you ever use spread, it'd be spread up
If pierce, then pierce up
All of these are lvl3 decos and can be maxed at lvl2
And no, your decorations of size 1-3 are definitely not useless.
For translating skill names, I recommend kiranico's mhworld database, a nice website with all the relevant info and a language switch. Are we allowed to post external links here? Should be easy to find, though.
And yeah, I'm a casual hunter, too. Did all the assignments solo and am currently facing fatalis. So no worries, casual players are certainly not locked out from the fun end game content.
Happy hunting!
