attack boost
Hello hunters,
I have a talisman that increases the attack boost, what does that mean exactly? Does it increase the normal attack damage or how should I understand this? Enlighten me and in general I would also like to know if it is worthwhile to increase the abilities of equipment (I already know how to do that).

Attack boost increases attack damage by an amount known as "true raw". The number shown for your weapon attack is inflated (for reasons), so for example Great Sword has 4.8 bloat meaning if it shows 480 attack power, then your true raw is 100.
Attack Boost adds to true raw, not bloated raw. That is why even if attack boost says it adds 3 attack, your status screen will show an increase of more than 3. So in this case
if you had 480 attack on your great sword and had a talisman (Charm) with Attack Boost 1, adding 3 raw, you would have 480 + 3x4.8 = 494.4 bloated attack.

Long story short, it'll always increase your attack by the same amount no matter what weapon you have equipped, so don't be too concerned with the number that shows up.

If by "normal" attack damage you mean "non-elemental" then yes, you're right. If you meant something else, I don't understand the question.

Do you mean to slot in skills, or to upgrade the defence via armourspheres? "increase abilities of equipment" is not something people understand.
If you mean to slot in skills, if you don't do it then you'll die. Not really a question of it being worthwhile or not, it's like asking if it's worthwhile to go to elementary school.

If you mean to upgrade the defence, armourspheres are plentiful in this game until the very end, so don't hesitate to upgrade the defence of armour you have.

There is no way to upgrade the base skills an armour piece has once created, you can only slot in skills. (Charms are not armour. Should you upgrade Charms? Usually, it doesn't hurt.)

If you meant something else, please advise - your terminology is unclear.

Thanks for the answer, I thought the weapon needed an attribute or an ability called "Attack boost". ^^

With the abilities I mean those that are improved by different pieces of equipment with the same ability, such as fire damage, attack boost, marathon runner, etc.

Is it worth getting additional levels of your Armor skills? Yes.
Some of them have caps, others have many levels. Some have clear diminishing returns even if they have many levels.
Some set bonuses raises the cap for some skills as well.

But having lvl 3 Weakness Exploit for example makes going for weak points an even better strategy since the reward for it is increased with each level.
Having lvl 2 Paralyzis attack when you have no paralysis weapon is a waste of space.
Having Fire Resistance lvl 3 when not facing a monster with fire damage - no use.

You can press some key (using a controller myself) to see what each level of the armor skill does so you can make the decision if it's worth going for.

By using charms and armor pieces, as well as decorations later you can tailor armor sets for the enemy you're facing.
You can save complete armor sets in your big box to quickly load them before a fight or mid fight in the camp.
