Wasn't too bad, but the flow of battles keep getting broken
Also in terms of base games, World was a right stinker. We haven't played Rise yet.
Iceborne was what fixed World, it wasn't a good game to start with. Quite a slog in fact.
Just be careful when asking for help. We're at the point where calling for help will give you at least one dude with a fully optimized endgame set, ready to slay the monster before you can blink.
My recommendation:
Buy MHW, but save Iceborne for later. Play until you complete the main story, and you'll probably have a better idea about if you want to invest the remaining $60. If you're unsure, grind a bit more and complete some of the Special Assignments, perhaps even try out some Arch Tempered monsters (fair warning though, they're tough even with optimized base game gear).
(Also, for your own sake, I'd personally advise refraining from using the Defender Alpha Armor if you want to get a genuine Monster Hunter experience. I'd also refrain from using SOS, as you'll call in that aforementioned endgame hunter who will do the quest for you.)
I don't really care if it's on sale or full price, it's more is it worth it this late into its life cycle as when new titles come out on one platform usually other platforms aren't far behind
Just suggesting when on sale so you don't feel like you wasted a lot of your money when you dislike the game
Couple it with the fact that MHW has cross-region play we should be fine for a long time.
Now would be an excellent time to begin playing as you no longer have to wait untill certain events or quests come back.
Almost the entirety of the game can be done solo with the exception of 2 very specific quests that aren't a requirement for the story in any way.
The game has scaling for solo players and the monster scale dynamically depending on the amount of players in the session at any given time.
Monster Hunter World has a lot of replayability due to it's diverse gameplay. There are 14 weapons and every one of these differs from one another. The game also has a tremendous amount of monsters to hunt (even more with Iceborne) and most of them differ a lot. Subspecies do not differentiate themselves as much as regular monsters do but theyre still really fun to find and they can often be found in biomes where their regular counterparts can not be found.
It takes a long time to get bored with the game in my opinion but I absolutely love the series in general.
Iceborne is highly recommended as it basically doubles the amount of content but you'll need to see whether you enjoy the base game first before commiting to purchasing the DLC as well. You can always opt to refund as long as you haven't played more then 2 hours.
I highly recommend the game! If you have any specific questions about the gameplay or the game itself then do not hestitate to ask and I'll do my best to answers as best I can.
I've put +1000 hours into only 4 games:
The Division = Third person shooter looter
Monster Hunter World = Third person monster grinder
Shadowverse = Card game
Rocket League = Soccer car game
Those are all multiplayer games. If it's single player then 100-200 hours max for me.
My prediction for MHW is the game being active for at least 2 more years, but most likely longer.
Im finding groups and people to help with no problems and im enjoying the game so far.
