How do I use wyvern's fire?
I've been playing up to nergigante and just now realized there's an attack for the gunlance called wyvern's fire I went to the training grounds to figure out how to use it but the button prompt doesn't work (left click and right click while having guard out) does anyone know what the actual controls are for it?

EDIT: alright so I have no clue why its not working but I found a fix: setting it so that tab and the little key on the side of the mouse for were both for guarding. Now as long as I hold tab I can use wyverns fire, thanks for the help with looking into it everyone!

Poke and shell at the same time while guarding. You'll charge for a second then there'll be a big explosion and your gunlance will go into overheat mode.

Open your hunternotes, go to weapons, then gunlance and there you can find all the different types of attacks

It's worth noting that when you do this your character can slowly turn to adjust their angle from left to right, BUT if you go into an over-the-shoulder view you can quickly alter direction, even causing the attack to face upward. From your POV it'll still look like your character is turning from left to right, but the shot will fire in the direction you're looking. :steamhappy:

Thats what i've been doing as stated in between the brackets I hold guard then I hit the poke and shelling button but for some reason it just makes my guard stop for a second

Seems like a problem with keyboard input then. Works fine with a controller.

Are you holding the poke & shell button simultaneously? Beacause if you have a delay between them it wont work

huh I just tried something, I set my guard to tab and was suddenly able to use wyverns fire but I couldn't reload like normal

Considering that I made about 15 attempts making sure I clicked at the exact same time then yes I am

2 things:

* 1: When you use Wyvern Fire, it goes into a 2 minute or so reload, you can even see it as a piece of the gunlance opens up in order for it to cool down.

* 2: Check your keyboard for Ghosting. Keyboards can't press down all buttons at once, and due to the way the meshes are set up, starting from 3 simultaneous presses errors might happen, so see on some online tester whether you're potentially unable to hold certain buttons together.

edit: Also just a general tip, Monster Hunter has extensive movesets for all weapons, even if they only use 2 main buttons + a utility button, so make sure to experiment and go through the movelist when you try a new weapon.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
