Each weapon would set you back about 5400pts for augments so around 75.6k points for all 14, and armour doesn't use points at any stage, just Zenny.
Though, if you want to farm Research Points, I'd probably try farming bone piles in the Guiding Lands for "Crystallised Elder Dragon Bones" which are worth 700 points a pop. Eat for "Felyne Exchanger" (4 Green Drinks, Multiplies Research points by 1.2 at turn in) and maybe Felyne Harvester (2 Yellow Drinks).
I too have gone broke so many times mainly on zenny and armor spheres since everytime a new monster comes out, some part of it is objectively better.
I only recall running out of points once though.
I still wonder why they needed multiple currencies instead of using just one.
This was actually the first time that I ran out of money in Monster Hunter World.
I use soft soil and send tailraiders out every 5 quests and the points I get from fighting monsters more than covers that so I'm constantly gaining points.
R12 Layered armor costs 5000 for entire set and layered weapon skin 2000 for the most expensive ones.
If you're going back and forth every hunt then in the long run you'd be better off crafting multiple weapons to layer each one differently rather than constantly relayering the same one.
